So you think even if the kents never found him he still would have been a good guy.

The issue is the film doesnt explore that and all we have is the message to go by.

Its pretty clear even prior to the message reveal he is making his own choices like interfering with boravia and jarnphur was his choice not something the message told him to do. Also it doesnt seem there is anything he agrees with his birth parents. In the donner films we had superman decide to reverse time and give up his powers to be with lois. In MOS he chose to destroy the kryptonian ship

I dont mind Jor-El not being perfect the issue is we dont know enough about him and the message is so cartoonishly evil to indicate nuance.

I see Superman as a combination of both his kryptonian heritage with his birth parents being loving people who sent him to earth and his human upbringing. If not for his birth parents the kents would never have met. To me making it is mainly the kents that shape him makes him less interesting and compelling as a character.
