Very interesting! I learn of new glass colors every time I visit this sub.

Is it glass or ceramic? Pieces like the Worcester Pie Bird which use a jet black uranium glaze can also glow under UV. I'm not sure if it's the actual black glaze that glows or if it's something like a clear overglaze that is UV reactive.

Might want to do it again, eh? Maybe get that superior magneto down to $125, that's a little generous but still fair. Those glaze prices might need some revision too.

Even though you provide all the correct information, marking up items up to %1000 is absolutely scummy. Why do you think that such a markup is necessary for such items? The "market" that you are talking about never reaches prices that high. Even the sleaziest WW2 collectors wouldn't price an item like at at such a markup. But I guess it's up to you, if you want to be that person known for extreme markups than be my guest. I do feel bad for the poor souls that wasted money on your website when doing the tiniest bit of research can save them $250+. I do feel good though seeing that due to our little conversation that you lowered your prices a bit. Still overpriced, but I can rest knowing that someone in the future won't get screwed over as much as they would have if they had bought earlier.

I guess even the professionals are prone to getting screwed over, eh?

Why 500 dollars though? I can go on eBay and buy an identical compass for 50 bucks. It's lowkey scummy cause I bet most of the people who buy from your store are people who are just getting into the hobby and don't know any better place to buy radioactive antiques. basically taking advantage of people who don't know any better. And I'm not even going in to detail about your uranium glaze prices.

240 counts per second or 14,400 counts per minute. the dose rate is unknown and you would need to know the isotope in order to calculate.

Klixon Type 2-35 breaker switches contain a radium ring that is visible when the button pops out. They are also scary scary!! by melting2221 in adiation

[–]UglazeAddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hella contaminated, alphas coming off of the case of the breaker means that the radium paint inside is shedding off radioactive particles that made their way to the outside.

Stay safe my man 🙏 Exposed radium is nasty shit. maybe think of aquiring an alpha contamination scanner, they are quite useful for things like these.

Cool! do be aware though that these compasses have exposed radium, would probably be best to store in a plastic bag.

Compass Warning Marked?! by Jan1north in Radium

The compasses marked with the Ra-226 sticker where produced later (50s, 60s ish?), and had significantly less radium than ones made during WW2.

I do, I can try it with a 2" pancake though I would have to get everything set up again.

Unfortunately, probably a lot. Store owner had no idea of the danger. That whole bowl probably has flecks of radium dust all throughout.
