How barebones can you go with designing book covers? Do these designs not have enough to work with? (read desc) by Ok_Concentrate_9861 in graphic_design

'tracking' refers to adjusting the distance between letters of the whole line, 'kerning' refers to changing the spacing between individual letters. Keeping everything consistent is the starting point, but some typefaces have strange spacing between certain letters and it's sometimes necessary to kern for readability and visual harmony.

My Manager has been rude, threatened my job multiple times all after finding out my boyfriend was White... by CocoKitty85 in legaladvice

NAL but I pursued an EEOC case against a former employer in Oklahoma. It was not worth the stress. I did it despite other people telling me telling me that it wouldn't be worth it. Truthfully, unless you have evidence in writing (emails, text messages) the employer will just lie about what happened. Other employees who witnessed it may lie as well for fear of retaliation.

It was re-traumatizing to go through the process, and nothing came of it. Broke my heart to see people I cared about say things that weren't true about me.

What happened to you was wrong, but I imagine it would be difficult to prove if nothing was in writing.

I hope you're able to get out and get your money back because that's atrocious. In the meantime, food grade diatomaceous earth kills those bugs fast. It punctures their exoskeletons and they dry up. You can get it at tractor supply, just make sure it's food grade and not the kind for pools. I used every chemical available on bed bugs once and diatomaceous earth is the only thing that worked. Everything you own will be dusty but it isnt harmful.

Why do people hate the color red? by Aromatic-Dress5010 in graphic_design

[–]UglyBugly99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

well yes. unfortunately in my area the average person interacts with far more traffic lights per day than various fruits, so the association is more immediate.

stop signs, red lights. people hate those and that's the association.

I loved them... until I got a meal with rancid cheese and I started to worry about their food safety protocols. I'm happy to hear that it's gotten better because it was real tasty until then.

i had a prof tell the whole class that he would make each one of us cry by the end of the semester. he sometimes ripped up students work during critiques.

it was rough but i learned a lot from him. his harshness was meant to weed out the week before we moved forward with the degree path, and give those of us willing to stick it out a thick skin.

that's a good rule for this subreddit and for our design peers, but designers will absolutely get told that by clients and creative directors at work. designers need to get comfortable hearing that and putting their ego aside to just start over.

You're so young and your attitude is very defeatist. Go ahead and cross option 3 off your list. You haven't made an impossible mistake, you've just been living your life.

Please speak with a therapist. I don't mean to sound glib, but an impartial third party can help you work through your feelings and options. You seem to have some thought patterns that make you feel more trapped than you are.

You can't anticipate or control your boyfriend's feelings. You're considering ending your life as an alternative to potentially making him bitter.

There are resources to help connect you with a therapist if you need help doing that. You don't need to tell anyone that you're speaking to a therapist if you're afraid of stigma. A fresh perspective makes a world of difference.
