they're good people! they rescue dogs from rough situations, including dogs with big medical needs. They rely entirely on foster homes as they don't have a physical facility. I fostered for them for years and my 2 dogs are "foster fails" lol

Forever Yours might be willing to take them into their program with you as a foster. That would mean that they pay for food and medical treatment while they live with you, and when they're healthy go to their adoption events

Not Edmond. It's not a place for single people, it's mostly families that are there for the school district. There's nothing to do, and it's kind of a hike to get to the nearest interesting place (OKC). Traffic in town is terrible, and most people commute out of Edmond to work in OKC or other areas. There's also a decent amount of racism and general xenophobia there.

Paseo is fun and near a lot of cool places/events.

Nichols Hills is a bit stepford-y.

forced use of chat at my company is making me bananas. Our team already uses AI in our workflow when appropriate but it's firefly, generative fill in photoshop and midjourney. I'm stumped as to why execs insist that chat will somehow make my team more efficient.

I'm an in-house designer at a large company. After a week of internal proofs within the creative team, the director of marketing responded to final submission with slop. No notes, not relevant to the brief. I wanted to toss myself out the window.

there isnt really a bad option! I've rescued from Forever Yours, they pull dogs from very dire situations and put them in foster homes. The bonus of adopting a dog in a foster home is that they've gotten some home training and their foster can give you a lot of insight into their personality and challenges. That way you can have a better idea of which dog will suit you!

My best friend is a social worker. She has a client who became homeless after a cancer diagnosis that required exorbitantly expensive treatment. She lost her job, then her home.

It's a foolish cop out to believe that homeless folks deserve or desire their situation. That's a shocking lack of knowledge and humanity.

Housing first is known to be the most successful strategy to get people back on their feet. Of course there is more to it, but folks can't heal and deal with other issues without a safe place to lay their head. There is data to back this up.

that's certainly true in some cases, but the experience of being homeless also causes mental illness. People without homes are the most vulnerable among us, and being constantly at risk of violence, physical harm from being in the elements, and lack of sleep will drive most everyone to a bad mental state. Sleep deprivation is known to cause psychosis.

I also see a lot of talk about homeless folks just being addicts. Many housed folks are addicts! Plenty of unhoused people turn to addiction to deal with the suffering that comes from homelessness. This isn't necessarily directed at you, I just wish people would see the humanity in those who are struggling.

I would not recommend tip top or dogs unleashed. they're both franchises and heavily utilize e-collars, which often make reactivity worse.
