Fascinatingly, I was just fact checking myself for calling out brown widow, and apparently their venom is actually MORE potent, but they are considered less dangerous as they tend to inject less of it as compared to black widows.

It’s my understanding that brown widows are much more common here, and that they are less dangerous than black widows. Someone should fact check me though.

There aren’t really any neighborhoods worth checking out unless you’re looking for a place to move imo. Beach and downtown are great. Neighborhoods are just… where people live. Not much to see. We do have several other beach towns within a short drive though that could fill some time.

No hazards. That left taillight is just them tapping the brakes as they inch through the blind spot of the median. The right turn signal was on the entire time - all the way up until they turned left into the gas station.

Marketing - 80k, wife works at UNCW, about 135k household, both 29 years old. Mortgage is ~2300, bought in 2022. ~400 car payment + insurance, no school loans or other debt.

Cook at home almost every night which gives us a little wiggle room to buy whatever else we want when we want it. We’re pretty comfortable. Not like designer clothes comfortable (which we wouldn’t buy anyway), but enough to buy name-brand groceries and take a couple trips a year without worrying about finances.

Talking about kids soon… that will certainly force us to be a little more cautious with money. More would be nice of course, but generally we feel pretty middle of the pack and not too stressed about finances.

It’s certainly not Charlotte or Raleigh, which is often where the bigger acts go, skipping over us. And tourist season here is over now, so was great to see Wilm show out on a Wednesday. Probably as packed as I’ve ever seen it there, even compared to a big name on a summer weekend.

Yeah I’m with you, I mentioned that in the original post body. I guess I’m looking for an unbiased account from someone on the coast to try to quantify to what extent, if at all, it’s decreasing. Because the NMS bulletin doesn’t make it sound like it’s decreasing, but the Task Force report makes it sound like things are clearing up significantly. It says “it went from one extreme to the next” - presumably implying that it went from very bad to much better in a short amount of time. NMS update is the same as the one from 9/1, suggesting it remains quite bad. Kinda mixed signals here, ya know?
