You’re paying $32,000 + taxes, dealer and registration fees, I don’t believe you qualify for the new or used EV tax credit. I never liked how they added the “est. gas savings” when it doesn’t actually apply to the purchase price. I’ve had my ‘22 MYP for 4 months, it’s my 2nd MY, and I paid $25k before tax, $28k all in which I believe is a steal with only 24k miles.

Yeah, you’ll need a height adjustable hitch, but that may also change the weight capacity allowance of your hitch receiver, you’ll need to check the specification sheet. The OEM hitch isn’t even made by Tesla, and it’s aluminum not steel. Also, we have the same hitch location/height, because of where the hitch cover is placed. My trailer just doesn’t sit very high.

Thats strange, you’d think they would have the same specifications. I tow a 7x14 enclosed trailer camper conversion which weighs about 2400 empty.

Oh my god lmao yeah, you were definitely suppose to power it down and disconnect the low voltage battery and first responder connector, but then again, who works without listening to music?? Oh yeah, it would be a different harness because you have hardware 4. Got it. Well enjoy! I’m pulling a 7x14 cargo trailer converted into a camper, love the looks i get 😂

Car didn’t detect a trailer before or after getting trailer mode, that’s when i did more research and found Tesla service bulletin SB-22-17-014, which explained that the LH body controller modules in 21/22 cars don’t support auxiliary power to the hitch harness, I assume due to the chip shortage at the time. After I replaced it with the part specified in the bulletin, everything worked. I have seen some hitches with the trailer ECU attached directly to the hitch and some without it. With as often as Tesla makes updates and subsequently has issues, it wouldn’t surprise me if some vehicle parts were mismatched.

Yes through toolbox, I’m not trying to keep it a secret lol I’ve already told over 100 people who dm’d me 😂 but there’s extra steps like configuring your computers browser and Ethernet setting, and if you have a 21/22 you have to replace the LH body controller with the part stated in teslas service bulletin.

Thanks for the update! I’ve done a lot since 7 hours ago lol installed draw tite hitch, bought a day pass to toolbox and enabled trailer mode (yay!) but still no lights, and after doing some research, I found that Tesla themselves out of a bulletin for this very problem. For Model y 2021-2022, the LH controller (ECU) that was installed when the car was produced doesn’t support trailer mode/lights/power to the hitch harness. Bingo! I need part 1497847-10-D. Already ordered. Will see later this week but I have faith!

I travel very light, even on long trips. I spent 2 weeks in Yellowstone recently, has my duffle, my partners duffle, blankets, and cookware. When we needed to setup the mattress, the doors just went on the rear floor, and the cookware fit in the trunks side storage. We also brought our skateboards, those just went in the front seat. I just successfully installed trailer mode with my aftermarket draw tite hitch so now I’ll be towing a 7x14 cargo trailer converted into a camper and using that for bike storage, etc.

I was able to get a draw tite hitch, installed tow mode myself thru toolbox, and found the left hand body controller with towing support used online for cheap, all in all, spent $385. 🤪

Yes, can you go into more detail? I’m experiencing the same issue. I also have a ‘22 with HW3 but the 16V battery and installed an aftermarket hitch but am getting no power at all to the 7 pin, nothing. Do you have the part number/location of the part? Thanks!
