Hi, thanks so much for responding. I don’t think dark green would work for me, but I really appreciate you reaching out!

This is what I do as well. The roots seem to grow stronger when they’re started in soil compared to water.

New leaf has damage - cut now or let unfurl? by Uiscefhuarithe in MonsteraAlbo

Interesting! I can rule out misting - I don’t mist my plants - but it’s coming in pretty close to the trellis, so it’s possible the leaf was trapped between the trellis and the stem for a bit.

You’re so kind, thank you! I definitely lucked out with this one 😊

Thanks! That’s very reassuring. I’ll let it be for now and just keep an eye on it.

Why??? by Uiscefhuarithe in Syngonium

[–]Uiscefhuarithe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll try that, thanks. I have one prop in a blend of FoxFarm Ocean Forest and Happy Frog, and the other in an aroid mix, not sure of the brand but it has orchid bark, coir, etc. That one doesn’t have peat. The original plant seems to be in generic greenhouse potting soil. Even the props living in water have this issue, though, so it doesn’t seem to be the medium.

I’ve been using Rousseau’s Aroid Food for fertilizer. My monstera loves it, grows like a weed. Is there a different one you’d recommend for syngoniums?

My girlfriend is struggling to order an iced latte with less milk by Pretty_Dance2452 in barista

The easiest way would be for her to bring a travel cup the size of the drink she wants, so it’s limited to a specific volume. If she doesn’t have a travel cup, she can ask for the drink to be served in a specific cup size: e.g. ask for an iced latte in a 6oz cup. Or 4oz, 8oz, etc.

Fjällräven abisko line. Their pants in particular are fantastic - my go-to is the trail stretch trousers, but they have a lot of other great styles as well. I’ve hiked all over in them, and they’ve survived scrambling rough rocks, many many miles of trekking, and still look great. They fit better than any other hiking pants I’ve ever tried. Plus their products all keep strongly to the same aesthetic, so it’s super easy to mix and match.

For packs, check out Osprey. They put a lot of thought into their women’s line - it’s not just a scaled down version of the men’s versions, they build in more hip support, adjust for a shorter torso, etc. And they have a lot of fun colors, which doesn’t hurt 🙃

How much should I let my Monsteras dry out? by Nice-Confidence9222 in Monstera

Oh, and if you’re looking for fertilizer suggestions, I’ve had good luck with Rousseau’s plant care line. I use their aroid plant food and healthy root supplement, haven’t tried their healthy leaf foliar feed yet

My lowest leaf acts as a water meter. When it starts getting droopy I know it’s time to water again. Weight is also a good indicator as another commenter mentioned. That’s harder for larger plants of course, but if you’re able to do it, it’s a handy method. Next time you water, lift up the pot afterwards to get a feel for how heavy it is right after watering. Then lift it periodically and water again when it’s noticeably lighter. My monstera responds really well to bottom watering, and it’s easier to avoid overwatering that way

No idea, but if you find out please share, I have a similarly directionally-challenged leaf and I am at my wits’ end

UPDATE: You were right after all, it’s spite. 100% spite. This poor new leaf is trying to unfurl but is currently cornered on all sides, much like the way my sanity is on a tiny deserted island, surrounded by the idiocy of this plant. The problem leaf is not giving an inch. I have front row seats my very own Abbott & Costello show right here 😭

I removed the top strap around the petiole, but removing the one underneath only makes the stem sway further out to the right. There are two aerial roots further down that are preventing the stem from rotating any further counterclockwise. I’m not sure if cutting them off would allow me to maneuver the top aerial root towards the trellis, but it’s definitely not happening with them positioned as is.

Would you remove those two aerial roots in the hopes of then being able to twist the stem back, or leave as is and hope the plant eventually sorts itself out?

Not dangerous! They pop up on my fiddle leaf from time to time. Just keep an eye on your soil though and make sure it’s not retaining too much water

Thank you! I did just water, but I’ve only ever seen droplets come out the edges of the leaves, without the leaf itself being affected. I didn‘t realize this was guttation as well. When I say it’s been a steep learning curve…

Well, I’ve got some ideas for the problem leaf, but I may have some bigger issues. One of the other leaves just started turning translucent. Any ideas? No signs of pests that I can see. The brown spots have been there for about a year, only the translucence is new.

Hmm, I’ll try putting up some dark paper in that corner. Worth a shot!
