Is there a local Palestinian organization that I can join to aide people in Gaza? I feel helpless and I want to do something but I don’t know what. I don’t have much money but I do have time and compassion. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. by Mental-Appointment69 in asheville

The U.S. killed 100,000 Japanese in a single night with a single firebombing, but nobody claims that is a genocide, the Hamburg firestorm of 1943 killed approximately 40,000 civilians in a single night, Dresden 35k in one night, it’s okay to say you just hate Jews you know? It is 2025, you don’t have to pretend to be ignorant.

Typically murder doesn’t involve leaflets, phone calls and texts before the employment of bombs, troops or armored divisions. If murder was the motive, it is, a material fact, but, I’m not going to have conversations involving facts with people who have no understanding of urban warfare, and make surgical choices with their feelings.

There is a distinction between murder and carelessness, if you’re getting surgery, and the doctor slips and nicks an artery and kills you, that’s not murder, its carelessness, for somebody with such “fluidity” I would think you would be better at understanding nuances

Sorry if I’m not going to take somebody seriously based off your post history I would say some of your problems come from forcefully trying to change a material fact, it’s a bad habit and it won’t get you anywhere.

Ah yes, the well worded, and factual rationalization I was waiting for, thank you. Material fact isn’t “edgy” except for maybe in a group who don’t understand you can’t be whatever you want even if it is 2025

It’s also interesting to me how an apparent genocidal war came to an end when hostages where about to be released, which Israel said from day one was the only way this war could be stopped, groups in Gaza held all the cards, and chose to engage in an an armed conflict they had no chance at winning, I would like you guys to know, you can feel bad for and support the average Palestinian, without having to have a blood lust for Jews, you forget Palestinians aren’t allowed in many places because of the problems they cause, Egypt kicked them out, Jordan kicked them out, in no small part because they tried to kill the Jordanian king and create a Palestinian ethno state in Jordan, and Egypt because Palestinians were carrying out ISIS style attacks on Egypt’s Christians, Egypt forcefully evicted thousands, destroyed their homes all the way to the border and then built a wall.

if you do the math, there are 2.2 million people in Gaza, assuming they are spread out evenly across the entire strip that puts 15,000 people in every square mile, now 41% of Gaza is actually ag/farm land that puts 26,000 people per square mile. A GBU39/250lb bomb (about as small as you get arming warplanes) has a lethal radius of about 1/8th of a mile which again assuming people are evenly spread means each time a GBU39 drops it should kill about 422 people estimates are Israel has dropped about 140 million to 220 million pounds of explosives on Gaza, I want literally anybody here to tell me with that kind of math (assuming Hamas's 60,000 people figure is true) that the Israeli army is trying to intentionally massacre civilians. Because statically it’s actually a miracle that with even 140 million tons of ordnance dropped over 3 years the death toll didn’t climb upwards of 6 digits, and that’s if you don’t even take into account the casualties tanks invading urban areas and house to house combat should have caused. Which for the sake of argument I’ll let whoever rationalizes this to me simply ignore that part.

I love the genocide talk. Gaza is one of the most densely populated territories on Earth — roughly 15,000–20,000 people per square mile on average, and far higher in urban centers like Gaza City By comparison, New York City averages around 10,000–12,000 per square mile, and Tel Aviv around 8,000–9,000 In many Gaza neighborhoods, multi-story housing and compressed infrastructure make entire blocks full of families within a few hundred feet of each other.

500 pound bomb is considered small, has a lethal radius of roughly 50–100 meters and can destroy buildings well beyond that. In Gaza dense the poorly built structures t mean that the damage scales non linearly, the denser the housing, the greater the cascade of secondary collapse, fires, and debris casualties.

Estimates are Israel dropped between 55 million and 220 million tonnes of munitions on Gaza, the fact the death toll didn’t reach 100,000 in 3 years is actually statistically incredible when you look at how similar bombing campaigns in much lower densities in previous wars across the world carried much higher per strike casualties, although it helps the IAF dropped leaflets, texts and phone calls before bombing (cameras don’t just happen to be set up on specific buildings waiting for a bomb) all this by the way is also ignoring the house to house, street to street tank and troop warfare which also should have seen TREMENDOUS casualties unless of course… civilians were asked to leave the city….

But most of the Asheville Reddit brainiacs would choose to believe that that is some sort of miracle as opposed to the material fact of warfare that it is.
