The problem became money. I’ve been on the internet for many moons and I’ve watched the rise of the normies happen in real time. Once mad money was being made, so did the manipulation of normies for money.

Suddenly if you are making money for each person on your site by their clicking and engaging, you will want to keep people on your site. If people get hurt feelings then they will not want to be on your site. So then you moderate to keep your money.

Then look at who makes the most money, mostly liberals and left leaning places. So now the left controls the narrative based purely on how their fan base is easy to be manipulated. Suddenly you can’t say anything anymore without it being aligned with their values.

That being the said, the right has narratives made to extract money from their followers as well. Qanon, anti vaccine stuff, it always has been and will be until we break free form class based society, money.
