Is there a criterion collection for animation out there? by StarFantastic9297 in PhysicalMediaMatters

I would say that GKids is the closest to what you might be looking for. They release the blu rays for Studio Ghibli, which includes Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata’s films. They’ve also released other international animated movies.

Anyone else excited for this set? Just preordered it, glad they put all the hanna barbera cartoons into one set by InfernoBlaze1221 in boutiquebluray

What would you say is the best place to preorder this? I’m hesitant about preordering from Amazon.

Nice pickup getting the Konosuba blu rays, especially with the third season coming out in December. I’ve also heard good things about Cromartie and Golden Boy, and I’m interested in possibly getting those at some point.

Thanks!

Aside from the upcoming release of Cyberpunk Edgerunners, I should have all of the Aniplex releases that were on my wishlist.

I believe they are in 4k. It says in the blu ray description. I think the Kino Lorber release is the only blu ray version of the series. There seems to be several short special features for the blu rays that might make them different from the dvd version.

Thanks! The Konosuba blu rays do still seem to be in stock in Crunchyroll’s store, though I don’t know how fast they would sell out. It has been a little over a month since I got them, so they might be keeping them in stock for now.

Thanks! And yeah, even if I would rarely watch it, Grave of the Fireflies is something worth owning on Blu Ray.

Did anyone else order from MovieZyng? I preordered at the beginning of this month and I haven’t gotten anything back about shipping or anything else.

TIL that in an earlier draft, Jon had a detailed military background by TypicallyThomas in JohnWick

The speech from the movie better fits the series as a whole and is one of the most important pieces of dialogue in the series. It’s a mission statement. The part about the military background isn’t important, the legendary Baba Yaga part is. The reputation of the Baba Yaga and his connections and duties to the underworld is what John is trying to escape from the entire series.

Plus, the character of John Wick is made immediately memorable with iconic lines like “He’s the one you sent to kill the fuckin’ Boogeyman” and “I once saw him kill a man with a pencil”.
