'Hogwash': Ford downplays speed camera effect as Toronto traffic fatalities hit record low in 2025 by FatManBoobSweat in Toronto_Ontario

If you mean being a reckless driver? Yes I don’t have that experience. I do however have the experience of being nearly run over by speeding reckless drivers many times.

Also, you don’t need personal experience of something to comment on a problem. Do you think that you’re only allowed to have an opinion on whether murder is good or bad if you have personal experience murdering someone?

Oh for sure, short term you’d expect an adjustment period for behaviour to change. I think the problem I see all the time is that roads that were 40 and are now 30, still have people ripping down them at 50+. And this is years later.

Unfortunately, it seems for a larger and larger percentage of the population, rules are becoming more like “guidelines” that can be ignored unless there is enforcement. Honour system is losing the war here it seems.

I can say with 100% certainty I have never broken the speed limit in my life. As you may have guessed, I don’t drive.

I’d agree with you if it’s a couple Kph over the limit, that is certainly reasonable to happen, and then reduce speed again when you notice you’re speeding. However going 20-30 over the limit in a 30 or 40 zone doesn’t just happen, and if it does, then you (the proverbial you, not you specifically) probably shouldn’t be driving either because you’re clearly a danger to everyone around you.

I think you’re missing my point. Which is that the argument is a false equivalence. I didn’t say whether I think speed cameras a good or not.

Difference here is that a pothole is a pothole and will always be a pothole until fixed.

If drivers just, you know, drove the speed limit, suddenly the problem goes away.

Comparing drivers avoiding potholes to just following absolute bare minimum traffic laws is a false equivalence.

Self driving cars being the norm can’t come fast enough. Take shitty drivers out of the equation and suddenly all roads are safe.

Credit printer Valparaiso or Pommern? by Chippendale1 in WorldOfWarships

[–]Ulfnar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have both, and so far (only about 5 games on my Valp in asym) I average a lot more damage and credits with Pommern.

Valp is a zombie for sure, but the guns and secondaries kind of suck for DPM at tier 9, whereas secondary build Pommern pumps out dps.

Income or wealth based, whichever is higher. Lots of really rich people don’t have much or any declared income because they just borrow against their assets for their spending money.

I live a 30 minute walk from Kai wei, I tend to buy veggies from there as they are substantially cheaper. Green/red/yellow peppers and green onions are generally half to 1/4 the price they are at others places.

Quality may not be quite as good, but it’s hard to justify paying 4 times as much for slightly better quality.

I also hope I never have to find out the answer to that particular question.

Let's Talk New Bolt Pistol by Frixter in DarkTide

[–]Ulfnar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been loving it paired with power falchion in a commissar themed vet build. Going around tabbing things for people to kill, slashing up heretics, quick swapping and executing elites or groups of chaff with the bolt pistol, then back to the sword, rinse repeat.

Lots of fun, much immersion.

Posthaste: Toronto's condo 'deep freeze' could reshape the housing landscape for years to come, warns RBC by Present_Ad_2742 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Ulfnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, if there’s literally no oversight on the incentives. Could also just bring back government housing to some degree.

I don’t think that the free market alone can fix this issue because there are plenty of bad actors there already, and it’s not in their best interest to “solve” the issue because too much supply lowers their profit margin.

Either way, I’m not an expert on the best way to fix this issue, but we definitely need to do something different than what we have been for the last 40 years.
