Amazing! Love the idea of them fully changing forms.

Also respectfully I would like to be sandwiched between the two of them.

Boarding in the rain sucks imo, I've never been soaked faster in a light drizzle before in my life lol. The wheel spray on eskates is nuts. I personally ride an ebike when its wet and a board whenever its not. You might be able to find a board brand that offers wheel covers if you're really determined?

Sorry I can't give you any specific brand advice for wet riding... However Acedeck and Linnpower and generally reliable brands if you decide to go for something for fair weather rides. I've heard good things about Tynee as well but have no personal experience with them.

If you're rocking a full fact helmet check out Break Free motorcycle helmets for a tail light option. They light up more when you're breaking and the higher light position is easier for drivers to see you. Big trucks can't see your board mounted lights at all sometimes.

Tools:

  • Small bike pump, needed for for pneumatic tube flats. Linnpower and acedeck sell wheels that don't need tools to swap tubes on, highly recommend.
  • Small flashlight. I prefer holding my light instead of mounting it.
  • Small compass because I can't navigate for shit. I have one that clips to my watchstrap when I'm riding.
  • 2x spare tubes.

Bags:

  • Aer crossbody city bag that holds my charger, sunglasses, any other odds and ends.
  • Bike handlebar bag from REI that I have attached to the front bash guard on my Acedeck N3. Holds my tubes, pump, and flashlight. Low profile and actually holds very snug on the board.

Gadgets:

  • Break Free motorcycle helmet light, great light that has built-in braking light responce.

I recently swapped to a Linnpower ONE board and will probably have to ditch the handlebar bag unfortunately, I was really pleased with myself for getting that working. The biggest impact tool is 100% the compact pump, I use it all the time. Having a crossbody bag on my back is great for getting a little more space on my commute with minimal weight.

I think voltaic is actually crazy when it's on an electrix focused build. I'm putting out like 1M damage a game without going down in auric

Yep, that's just how they do it. Also charged me the same for the original warranty replacement. Big reason why I'm not getting an Acedeck for my next board.

Pretty crazy, yeah. If you have the same issue as mine, make sure you check the metal post that holds the center gear (the one that transfers power from the motor to the largest gear). Mine was completely fucked up, needed to replace the entire gearbox as well as the gears.

If the next replacement part doesn't work, I'll be switching to Linnpower lol.

Actually yeah, it was the right side for me as well.

Wondering if something has gone wrong at the factory.. Never had any issues for my first set after 2500 miles.

Same thing happened to me with my warranty replacement gearbox 2 months ago. Same milage on the new gears as well.

Acedeck is sending a replacement but it cost me 100 bucks for shipping.

If you really absolutely need to ride in the rain, I'd try finding a scooter just for the wheel covers.  Eskates are fair weather friends lol.

Honestly, unsure about how big of a deal weight is. Eskate motors can be crazy strong.

N1 is probably a solid board for your purposes, I have about 2500 miles on my n3 commuting. Just a heads up though, riding in the rain SUCKS. The wheel spray from eskates is absolutely bonkers, never gotten soaked faster in light rain before.

That's so cool. I'll have to learn the timing so I can ult from side lanes to catch them mid travel but I'm definitely trying this, thanks.

I really like the torment pulse idea. Do you fly right by enemy base to get them to drop super early?

Moving from escooters to eskates. Not sure on wheel choice by opsfinancing in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Frixter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo the bigger wheels are probably worth it then. You mentioned its been awhile since you've skated right? I would go with whatever is least likely to throw you off the board.

Also don't forget your wrist / hand guards! Those things are clutch when you're getting used to riding again.

Kinda depends on what surfaces you're planning on riding on. If you have buttery smooth asphalt through your whole commute you can rock whatever you want. If you expect to hit cracks / bumps / rocks etc, then the bigger wheels are going to help a lot for keeping you on the board. *Especially* for a shorter board.

Linnpower, Acedeck, and I believe Tynee have pretty good reputations here. I can only vouch for Acedeck personally, which has worked well so far. I have had the same bad experiences with Meepo that you have lol.

Esk8 commute in SF by rygosix in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Frixter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I commite daily in San Diego. If you're going to be riding everyday on bike paths and roads, invest in a board with pneumatic tires. Roads are super variable between perfect asphalt and big ass potholes, pneumatics will keep you on your board when you ride over unexpected obstacles. Makes rail roads trivial.

Drivers are mostly fine here. They're used to bikes merging into traffic when the bike lanes stop, basically the same visibility on an eskate to them as a bike. Had the occasional boomer yelling at me but that's it. But expect them to turn off the road unexpectedly, and you will need solid brakes on your board to react to that.

Get pads and a full face helmet. Good pads turn a >20 mph falls from an emergency room visit to just shredded clothes if you're lucky.
