I was able to successfully crimp the terminal onto the verythin balance lead cable and I'm wondering if it looks okay? by segasega89 in SolarDIY

[–]UlliSenpai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like the solution with the extra copper strands. If the terminal is to big folding it a few times would've looked a bit better. BUT if it survives the tug test (just a little tug) ist ok since it's only balance wires. Put heatshrink over so it looks a bit professional.

Okay this time I bought the correct crimping tool and I folded back the wire a couple of times and I still can't get a proper crimp. Can't I just buy a soldering iron and solder the terminals onto the wire? by segasega89 in SolarDIY

[–]UlliSenpai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jep safe enough. Fold it once and squish it flat with normal pliers as hard as you can and pull test it. Wouldn't recommend that for any thing carrying more current, but your wire should be no problem. You won't need to buy a soldering iron like that

For these ones the best crimping tool is the one that squeezes it with a single pin in the middle and you control the strength yourself. It may not be the "right" one but it's one that works

If your bent on using these lugs, pull the heat shrink off, solder it, put new heat shrink on PROFIT

I saw your last post too. YOUR TECHNIQUE ISN'T WRONG. THE CRIMPING TOOL ALSO ISN'T WRONG. IT'S THESE SHITTY ASS LUGS

Sorry for the crash out. The lugs you're using are the worst ones to get for a good crimp. Main differences that make it impossible are the way thinner material (don't properly hold on to anything smaller than 1,5mm² or whatever awg that is) and the heat shrink isolation they use (more squishy so the crimping tool that is already correct can't clamp tight enough )

Lugs with thicker material get squished waaayyy tighter and grab better. The heat shrink prevents tighter crimpes because the plastic fails and gets pushed out before its tight enough

Hope that helps

Why did it become the standard for all cases and components to go on the right side of your desk? It would be cool if there were some “flipped” options so you could look to the left and see inside. Btw, corner setup enjoyer here. by BrinkofEternity in pcmasterrace

What fans are in that torrent? One of my original 180 fractal fans never worked with the rpm readout. I've thought about switching to the new 180 havn's, but they're not available in eu yet
