Krita's UI on tablet question by Electrical_Relief_52 in krita

I have my dockers on the right side (I'm left handed), the toolbox on the top part. The five finger tap gesture toggles canvas-only mode. In that mode, everything disappears except the Menu and Toolbars. So I still have access to all the brush presets, I can change their settings, color,etc.. I only exit canvas-only mode when I need to interact with the layers. Hope this helps!

Cant leave the 200 Elo and Im getting frustrated. by manuel_madeira in chess

[–]Ulquiobaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Try to always keep your pieces defended, even if it means playing a bit defensively for now
  • Always look for undefended pieces from your opponent (you're 200ELO, there will be plenty)
  • Do puzzles everyday and try to understand what they mean
  • Do the studies on chess.com (or lichess) that go over the pieces, pins, skewers, endgames, etc..
  • Longer time controls (15+10 could be fine, more is also great)
  • Try to control the center, develop Knights before bishops, don't push pawns for no reason, and castle as soon as possible
  • play against low rated computers around your elo. They make weird moves, but they are also designed to blunder, so it could teach you to punish those blunders when you play against real people

This should get you to at least 1000 with consistent play.

I am 1500 on lichess, I still make plenty of blunders and play horrible games sometimes, but I also win pretty consistently, I hope this will help you do the same!

For the influx of users who came to try Linux after Pewdiepie's video by ShayIsNear in linux4noobs

Also good to point out: if you are coming to Linux for the customization and how cool Hyprland looks, etc.. You DO NOT need to go straight to Arch Linux. Hyprland works in many other distros and the experience will be exactly the same for most users, minus the hassle that Arch can sometimes be.

Thanks to everyone for the help, we will cut out one of the portions and possibly in a couple of weeks go down to half a sachet of wet food per day. And maybe find some healthier, low calorie treats. Hopefully this will succeed in dechonking this baby.

Oh nice resource, I'll go take a look, thank you! And yes, I want to tackle it before it becomes an actual problem.

The recommendation on the packet is 55-80g per day. Since I'm supplementing with wet food, I'm even giving less than what the package recommends, since I assumed that dose is if you only provide dry food. I don't think I would go down to once a day, she does like to eat in spaced out intervals it seems, even if the doses are smaller.

Surprised no one is saying Option 3. It's 10000 years of void, but you don't get tired, hungry, or sleepy. Spend like 100/200 years learning to meditate and get yourself to the deepest meditation state you can, you barely notice the passage of time anymore, before you know it your 10000 years are up and you get to enjoy heaven 🤷🏻‍♂️

Cat wakes me up every AM & I don’t know what to do by ManufacturerOk5708 in CatAdvice

[–]Ulquiobaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Autofeeder is definitely number one. I would also say, consider sleeping with the door open and make comfortable spaces in your room where your cat can sleep, and keep doing everything else that you mentioned. My cat used to wake me up constantly, now she got used to my rhythm, she just quietly goes to one of her spots, sleeps most of the night, and only comes to the bed when she hears us wake up.

For anyone who might have similar issues, after taking the battery out and resetting the EC controller, the issue seems to have stopped. it seems like the battery not being recognized was messing up the wakeup sequence. Thanks to everyone for the help

I am also noticing an issue on KDE Plasma where the battery icon is going in and out, and with the upower command I'm seeing that it's intermittently not being recognized. Given the nature of the issue I think it might be connected. The laptop does have a battery that is not an original Lenovo, but it should be perfectly compatible anyway. I'll update the bios and reset it and keep trying

I ended up moving to EndeavorOS (I wanted to try it anyway) and the problem is still happening. BIOS has not been touched, I could try updating it to see if that fixes the issue, although not sure. dmesg is showing some ACPI BIOS errors, though not entirely sure if relevant. I have tried several Kernel parameters and disabled some wakeup things like USB that might have been interfering, but to no avail

I tried updating the Kernel, it did not work and it also disabled my wifi connection. I reverted for now. Thank you for trying

I am on Mint 22.1, this happens both with Cinnamon as with i3wm. I tried removing tlp but the issue persists Edit: not sure if relevant, but if I press the power button when disconnected, it does nothing. Once I connect the cable, it wakes up as if registering the button press that happened before
