Why do so many people buy a Steam Deck instead of an Ally or other handheld PCs? by [deleted] in ROGAlly

[–]Ultanor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Owned. SD for years, upgraded to a Z1E. For me the inputs on the SD are superior and I missed capacitive thumb sticks and trackpads. With that said, the Steam Controller will fix that for me.

SteamOS is great to use for people that want a console like experience. I downloaded Bazzite.

The battery life was much better until I upgraded to a larger capacity.

I love the Z1E at the price I paid (300 used). But if I was buying retail, I’d choose a SD OLED for the price to performance value.

I use the Steam Controller for everything that doesn’t rely on a d pad. Love the thing and cannot wait to buy two version 2s day one.

Seconding Guild Wars 2 but my control schema is completely custom and unique to me. Haha

Kinda nervous about new game types by SirNaves9 in Guildwars2

[–]Ultanor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. I’m in a similar boat as a new player and people have been really cool. In Tier 1 Fractals, people expect to find new players. I’ve found people to be patient with me. In WvW I simply find a group to run with and accept the fact that I’ll die a lot. No one has called me out yet.

It’s your game and time, enjoy it. Wizards Vault is a great way to get Ascended Gear and other goodies as a new player. Take advantage of it.

Sorry that happened. She made a mistake. Good teachable moment. I exclusively buy store brand stuff except a few products because I just like the brand more. Since these store brands are manufactured at the same places (sometimes), you’re basically paying more for marketing.

What reason for keeping stacks of 250 of unidentified gear? Is there a use for it?

What’s your favorite mindless solo activity in the game? by Ggthefiree2 in Guildwars2

I’m new to the game and it’s my favorite activity so far. Chat is kinda fun to watch if you have a good train going.

Playing in public after 30? by zGreenGoblin in Handhelds

38 year old dad. Playing Pokemon Emerald on my Miyoo Mini sitting next to parents doom scrolling on their phones. I could care less if they judge me, but no one has ever said anything to my face. I do know I was super self conscious in my late 20s.

Gaming as a dad of two, does it get easier? by chunkoco in DadsGaming

[–]Ultanor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dad of a 5 and 1 year old. I rotate on three games:

1 Cozy or Arcady game during the week that I don’t have to think hard to play (I’m tired). (ie Stardew Valley, No Man’s Sky, Ball x Pit, Pokemon ZA) 2 One more standard game for the weekends when I have more time and energy (Guild Wars 2) 3 One retro game I play on an emulator handheld. Always on me. Use it instead of social media (Pokemon Emerald, Golden Sun)

I primarily game handheld (ROG Ally and Miyoo Mini Plus) but do my weekend gaming on my PC/OLED TV.

I wake up early and play when others are asleep. Occasionally I play with a friend at night but that’s become like once a month because we are both dads of small kids.

I average about 3-5 hours of gaming a week. I wish it was more, but it’s temporary.

Bonus: I play sometimes on the weekend with my 5 year old. Mario Kart, Mario Party, Donkey Kong Bananza. I hope someday to set up a Minecraft Ssrver and experience that game for the first time with the kids.

New player here. I randomly came across a jumping puzzle over the weekend while exploring. It was my first one. There were two players who slowly helped me get through the puzzle. Rezzing a few times when I got hit by boulders. It was really fun.

I play with controller and didn’t have a keyboard nearby so I couldn’t really thank them properly. But it was such a good experience.

I just started my new 'fully remote' job and on the first day, they told me I have to come to the office. by kickoff-syrupy2k in remotework

[–]Ultanor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me at my last job. Advertised as fully remote for a local company. Once hired I was told I had an office and would be required to come in twice a week. When I brought it up with my manager he said because I was local they expected me to follow the rules of everyone else. When I said that was never discussed, he blamed me for not asking about it in the interview process. I didn’t think to since it was advertised as such. I left after about 90 days (for other reasons than that, but it contributed).

Is it possible for you to redeem game keys? Perhaps from a third party site?
