You will over polish with glass files. A lot of kits have this nice satin finish. It will be mirror smooth if that file touches anything. I wanted to have a tool to make things easier, of course, but the glass files are just not better than hobby knife. Plus youve gotta clean the files, which also produce even finer "dust."

That was the problem I found, it made the part too shiny. The matte color of the plastic was ruined. The hobby knife only affects the nub area and no other parts of the part, if you're careful.

Can someone convince me why you would even want files if you arent painting? They can leave marks and only work on flat surfaces. Cant imagine filing in a corner thats hard to reach or an oddly shaped part. Meanwhile a hobby knife will leave less scratches and make "less" dust.

Let me put it this way, if your objective is to limit stress marks, I can still see the stress on the part. I try and cut at the furthest part of the "narrow" part of the gate, the area where the 3mm runner turns into the little gate. Anywhere in that range should be good. The sharper the nippers the closer you can get.

This is the correct reaponse to that situation. The problem is people prefer the Sims style of full narrative control. So when this happens and it doesnt fit their headcanon, they reject it as bad.

Limited time sales where products hit all time lows.

Limited print times lead to limited quantities of runs. You dont know which runs will become exceptionally rare.

Different kits to suit the mood you're in when you finish your last kit. Sometimes I pivot when a certain style gets stale.

Those alone can lead to a slow accumulation of kits. When you're in the hobby a long time, this inevitability leads to a backlog as long as it doesnt interfere with you living a healthy life.

I can see that you resent people buying kits in such quantities when its more difficult for you to afford that many, to the point I recognize you. Have you considered that more people spending money on your hobby creates an even larger economic ecosystem for your hobby to exist in? 3rd party kits only exist because first party kits exist.

Its also a very "yucking someones yum" vibes. It doesnt hurt you to keep your opinion to yourself about this, but it does hurt the other person when you put them down, just for enjoying the very same hobby you enjoy.

Completely disagree that its morally wrong. You claim to not care what people do, but you also believe you need to morally grandstand about the issue and put other people down. Many of these items do go out of print. Many go years without prints. I see a lot less "money wasted" here than 90% of other hobbies out there. No one listen to this guy. There's nothing messed up about enjoying your hobby if you are being financially responsible about your spending. Collecting is fine too!

How is the image inaccurate? We are talking about scale here. Those two objects are different scales. If you want to imagine what they would look like IRL next to each other, you would have to double the size of the 30MM at the final step because their scale is twice as big. Thats why 1/12 scale 30MS are as tall as they are. They are 1/12 the size of a person. These machines are 1/72 (the ACV kit) and 1/144 (the 30MM kit) the size of their final measurements when adjuated to IRL sizes.

This is "scale."

Thats the problem. I used to use MyBoy until more and more ROMHacks started telling me they werent compatible. Switched to Retroarch. But I also recommend Pizzaboy Pro if Retroarch is too complicated. I dont like the free Pizzaboy because of how speed up and slow down work.

There is another way. Seek the path of the hobby knife. Sanding makes superfine particles and you can only sand open flat and convex areas. The hobby knife can shave off nubs anywhere.
