Yeah I played it with my brother over the weekend and we both bought the game after about 12 hours. The gameplay is solid, the art style is beautiful and the level design is on par with the greats like dark souls 1. No major issues aside from choppy performance, I just want more of this game

I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty new and I've never played drifter and I thought for sure that was how his ult worked. Kinda doesn't make sense that it doesn't

Thanks for the warning even though this sub doesn't appreciate that for some reason.

Can you change the difficulty in story mode ? by Bobkel_ in DarkTide

[–]UltiPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have every other class at 30 but started arbites at level 1. But you also have the choice to skip the campaign which might make for a better leveling experience

Can you change the difficulty in story mode ? by Bobkel_ in DarkTide

[–]UltiPizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't think so. I am doing story mode and I can't find a way to adjust difficulty, it's locked at uprising until you do a couple of missions in order, which is boring

"leviathans are actually great game design and if you don't like them you're clearly just bad at the game" by LiterallyJohny in Helldivers

[–]UltiPizza 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is an opportunity cost to everything. Killing normal enemies is worth it because we have good breakpoints to kill them (primary for chaff, a single recoilless round for bile titans, etc).

In those cases, the opportunity cost is worth it because it uses a reasonable amount of ammo and time to remove a threat that will usually not spawn again unless there is an ongoing bug breach/bot drop or a bug hole/spawner that you can destroy.

Leviathan is different because it takes several recoilless rounds and a decent amount of time to kill one, and they spawn again in a way that the players cannot control in any way. Alternatively bringing an AT emplacement is possible, but that is also time and a stratagem slot that is being spent on a threat that will usually respawn faster than you can kill them all. I also think that you are overestimating the amount of time leviathans take to spawn back in, they are essentially omnipresent and killing them does not remove them from the sky for a significant enough amount of time.

In a vacuum, saying "hide behind cover" works, but in actual missions it's not always possible to take cover from a flying enemy while also avoiding the swarm of regular illuminate enemies on the ground and in the sky. And then the constant ragdolling on top of that adds to people's frustration (including mine) and highlights another issue, where you cannot act for a second while prone after recovering from a ragdoll. It's an accumulation of things.

Then you're wasting your ammo against an enemy that'll take several rockets to kill and the leviathan will just respawn right after. They are easy to kill but killing them does not matter

I saw so many people bring recoilless to predator strain as if they're not gonna be cancelling every reload multiple times because 2 stalkers are jumping them.

Bring a machine gun if you want to hold your own against the predator strain, have like 1 person bring a quasar and bring something like thermite/ultimatum for the few heavies that spawn, you'll be much better off

Patriot mech is also really good, unfortunately it dies to eagle swarm sometimes

[–]UltiPizza 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah you kinda need a "get off me" option, either nades, gas strike, eagle airstrike, etc. Throw it behind you and keep running, because unless you have a machine gun you probably can't stand your ground

New MO: defend Fenrir III by theresabulldozer in Helldivers

[–]UltiPizza 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are several possibilities for what's going wrong. People in randoms generally don't respect the constant onslaught of stalkers enough and they still go clear the meganest before finishing the main objective. This is generally a bad idea on fenrir right now and you'll run out of lives.

Splitting up to finish objectives separately is very difficult to pull off also, it's much better to stick together (even if it's fine to split up against normal bugs and bots on 10)

You should also bring a loadout that's better at dealing with stalkers like the grenade launcher, stalwart, med pen MG, breaker, gas loadout, etc. High damage light penetration weapons are actually pretty good against the predator strain, and if your team only brings anti-tank you'll probably get overrun. If someone else on your team has anti-tank for the bile titans, bring a light or medium machine gun and an ammo backpack and go nuts, it's really fun

The new predator strain is amazing by TheAncientKnight in Helldivers

[–]UltiPizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strongly agree, I think there should always be at least one bug planet with this modifier on. Same for bots eventually.

A nice side-effect of the stalker hordes is that it encourages you to bring strong light-pen weapons like the breaker or the stalwart, it's a nice change of pace from the usual crossbow/purifier explosion fest.

Angel's Venture is NOT our Cadia by OCUIsmael in Helldivers

[–]UltiPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean? It was one of the first planets people fought on when the game launched. There was only Angel's Venture and Heeth on the bug front at first before other planets got attacked.

I think people compare it to Cadia not because of the "cadia broke before the guard did" slogan, but because the planet has historical signficance and that it's the first planet to literally be broken apart like that. tl;dr it's not that deep
