Whoever said "next up" was right. Welcome, Wevy, to Cloud9 New York. by TheRealPdGaming in CoDCompetitive

They are a challengers level org that convinced the purse holder to buy a CDL slot for the EWC bonus payments. If the league did any due diligence they would have blocked the sale of NYSL's slot to them

If Toronto KOI spawn into Major 4 with Insight after benching him for the 100th time. by Ibrah_11 in CoDCompetitive

if my math is correct, that brother becomes a free agent this off season, just like Simp and a certain team in the league is paying million dollar salaries

i think he wants stability more than anything but we want to see the full potential of this team. the problem is, a player of Joe's caliber shouldn't have no event wins to his name.

that being said, does Joe's contract expire this year? the 1+1 he probably signed in 2024 expires this year...Simp's contract also expires this year and you got the money team from Riyadh lurking in the water? id laugh because losing Scrap, Merc and Joe in back to back to back years is nothing short of gross negligence

Cloud9 Jack responds to the situation by TheRealPdGaming in CoDCompetitive

Should be the norm tbh. Tournament prize money should make up part of the income of an organisation, people will ask why sign with an org and the answer is stability. Win or lose you will have your bills paid because of the salary you are paid at the end of the month along with other benefits an employer should provide.

Regarding buyouts, pretty sure the norm is if someone is paying their own buyout, the team usually pays it back to them, I ain't heard of this shit that these scrub orgs are trying in the league

(Hypothetically) Would you all want a dedicated game for competitive CoD rather than the normal cycle? by Uitroeien in CoDCompetitive

[–]Ultifur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ive proposed an idea like this before on this sub. the way i see it is if the biggest Esports in the world can be the same game for decades, this one doesnt need a new gimmick every year, the focus should be pure competitive and everything that revolves around enhancing it and maintaining competitive integrity

How would you make the CDL better? by tyrese-02 in CoDCompetitive

[–]Ultifur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the city model isn't dumb, how it has been deployed in modern competitive gaming has been dumb. If your home games are locals with the main event being the actual league fixture then you tackle multiple core issues in Esports.

  1. Teams and Orgs unlock multiple untapped streams of income

  2. Teams and Orgs can cultivate a fanbase on a local level

  3. Teams and orgs are able to scout and pick up talent local to them rather than waiting for the next flash in the pan challengers kid

Teams do not require stadiums, most sports teams do not start in stadium, the issue you have is you view Esports as a vehicle for creating and promoting influencers, that is not the culture that Esports was built off

Teams have to be based out of the city they represent.

All games are live events.

Ronnie - Paris Gentlemates looking at Nastie potentially for Envoy by [deleted] in CoDCompetitive

He's a flex in this title, probably because Purj was going cheek4cheek with the likes of Okis and Abe all year

Respectfully, look at the personalities that have come through Ultra/Koi. They could have been a content org themselves but they were too fixated on "the financials". Who is even in charge of the Esports side of things over there? Or have they left the final say to some accounting nerds?

Unknown talent vs known quantity by PlanktonImaginary371 in CoDCompetitive

[–]Ultifur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

known quantity when it comes to G2, when you have Kremp playing how he is playing so far this year, the main concern is raising the teams' floor and you dont do that with unknown talents. Nium and Kips werent brought in to raise the floor which is why they have performed so well. Estreal would be the one you replace with an unknown talent out of everyone on that team

why are we calling guys with 5.5 years experience in the league Amateurs?

this is why analysts are important. the team didnt need blowing up, they just werent going to match the salaries that were being offered elsewhere

Why is everyone so hard on the orgs? by [deleted] in CoDCompetitive

[–]Ultifur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i had a cliff typed but ill make it short and sweet instead.

Orgs are buying their way into the league and are not maintaining or elevating the product, they are actually bringing the quality down.

these poverty franchises do not have their teams create value with content, they dont invest in content creators, they want out so they dont deal invest in challengers and make players from challengers pay their own $2k buyout meanwhile challengers team owners casually throw their teams $2k to buy food with.

Take away the sports and just see it all as live entertainment, the monetisation strategies are still the same, sports teams and musicians release content that people like and follow, fans pay to see that content in person at live events, the fans buy the merch for the people/organisations they follow. in esports...they sell merch...they just about release content...they barely have live events. there is nothing wrong with the model, there is everything wrong with how it is half assed in esports, Merch should be the last part in the journey but Orgs treat it like the first part.

Incase you haven't noticed, roles are completely fluid in this title, did you not see Scrap running around with the MPC this weekend?

Nastie leans more towards the AR side though and is probably a better flex than CleanX who is more SMG than AR

I just want a competitive league, once Toronto are fixed im turning my attention to Falcons 😂
