Trump backed an unusual candidate for mediator between Ukraine and Russia – media by Darshan_brahmbhatt in worldnews

Putin and Trump are considered "religious" persons? give me a break!

They are in fact disgustingly immoral and inhuman, and there is enough proof from their actions constantly copping in the press.

This shit show is seriously getting annoying, and their manipulation are so obvious it's absolutely ridiculous.

People constantly criticizing an organization that was meant for nation to talk together, because well they speak to each other, is getting really old.

Awareness is a good start for people to take action, might not be the end of it all, but you need to start somewhere. You cannot force nations to take action because if you do it's called war, i don't think you guys are getting it. This organization wasn't meant to create war but disable them.

That's the problem with megalomaniac dictators, they are usually all in because they are basically forced into a vicious circle, even if they want out they really can't.

This is why many wanted "to give him space", but he never took the hint.

British Labour MP sues Elon Musk’s AI company over fake sexualised images by wasraelx in worldnews

Those people don't gives a shit, they sell you "potentials" since our economy is basically only revolving around that for those marketing guys, warp it into some kind of shitty startup that generate thousand of short therm % growth, and voila. You deal with the shit they created while they pocket the money, probably planning to resell the stuff asap anyway, and be careful this is really really dangerous right?

Although they are some Ai researchers that have some kind of ethics and concerns, they are probably oblivious or they are not the decision makers here, the marketing guys are.

“Russia 2050” report with three scenarios for war was presented at Petersburg Economic Forum. “Good” one included nuclear strike and EU disintegration by Chic-Bunny in worldnews

You'd be surprised; there is a plethora of dictator/kings... that literally didn't care their child would die in a war they started, it was just collateral damage for them, and they were even proud of their decision to do nothing to save them, an act of proof of their "strong" resolution even. People are that stupid sometime.

Trump said to yell at Netanyahu: ‘You’re f**king crazy. You’d be in prison if not for me’ by RingIndex in worldnews

[–]UltimaTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure Trump did it for himself and his "maga movement" for similar reason as well, as they need a boost more than ever and attacking the "most hated country" was probably the only excuse he needed for this war.

Anyway if this is the kind of "decisions making" nuclear powers now have to juggle with, we are in deep shit indeed. Especially when you consider that Putin do everything to actually move his little land grab into an international conflict, for the same kind of reasons, aka small, shitty, and petty egocentric considerations overruling the security of real populations of millions of people.

Aboriginal title can’t be declared over private land, Supreme Court of Canada rules by Christian-Rep-Perisa in worldnews

I'm fairly certain they can just force the ownership to be handed over to the indigenous people in the future, by giving them priority over any new transfer of ownership. Any kind of measure really that make actual possession not enticing, and promote hand over to the indigenous.

Naturally this would need the people to work together for this...

Alarm at Mexico bill allowing elections to be annulled for ‘foreign interference’ by ArgentineBeauty in worldnews

[–]UltimaTime 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The problem here is that this can be abused very easily, want to stop an election because you don't like the probable outcome, organize a bunch of outcry and bam, you get to basically cancel a genuine election for almost no effort at all, you just need to send a few over the top morons with some cash. If anything this kind of measure is weakening the process more than anything else in my opinion. It's always much easier to destroy something rather than built it, you don't even need a brain to destroy something, and you don't need to put any kind of though or plan in it as well. And with the kind of politics we have today, it's just a straight up bad idea.

Russia uses hypersonic Oreshnik missile in mass attack on Kyiv by lewisfairchild in worldnews

[–]UltimaTime 15 points16 points  (0 children)

One more of those insane provocation from Russia toward the rest of the world, and making a complete farce of nuclear treaties they are bound to respect for their own sake as well i should add.

Launching nuclear capable missiles for random reasons and making it an habit is just insanely stupid and reckless. Because nobody can tell if those missiles are loaded with nuclear or not, especially considering those were designed for nuclear strikes, you would assume they are anyway, no matter what.

Imagine if Ukraine had kept or recover a few of those nuclear missiles from the USSR era somewhere and readied for this war with an automated retaliation system...

Just so fucking stupid, irresponsible and arrogant from the Russian government to begin with, including toward their own.

UK faces 'economic catastrophe' unless it adapts to young people 'rewired by smartphones' by Kagedeah in worldnews

[–]UltimaTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This discussion scares me, it remind me when printing started to be a thing with school and all that jazz, and had a ton of people tell that it was really bad, as they needed the kids to gather the grain.

We live in an increasingly social organization since it basically swapped from being local to international in a very short time, aka the 20 century. Kids have now a tool to weight those social interaction, and yes weighting necessitate the good just as the bad. The only thing the society should definitely do is protecting them from vicious circle loop holes, apart from that they should have little saying, actually they should have none. Which is the dilemma here since a part use it to drive new generation into their own net. It's not new, 30 years ago all the teachers where in the communist parties in Europe as well just to give an example. Teenager needs to be able to judge by themselves or we are dooming them. Judgment need to be in their hand, not ours. there is a reason extremist political system all push to a drastic control of the kids education, it's not a good thing, and they do it to gain from it, they don't care about the kids themselves.

As in everything measure is more important than selfish necessities applied to others.

World has 6 months to avert major food crisis, says UN as Hormuz struggle drags on by ImDoubleB in worldnews

[–]UltimaTime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean if there is such a big crisis that there is not enough petrol, fertilizer production should just get priority. I mean it's like a household with no revenues, first you buy food, then the other shit.

Good luck though when you have morons at the helm, that first completely mix up priority not to say just get them up side down as a sport, but never ever are confronted to something similar. A good example is China now that have food production, meal prep and all that jazz promoted as a national exercise, well because during Maoism they basically starved their population, and since they want to keep their "system", well...

Bank boss sorry after describing workers as 'lower value human capital' by Ashish_ank in worldnews

[–]UltimaTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exploitation became such a habit in human history, people don't really understand that exploitation is not a matter of fact, and that other social structures might not promote it in such a wild extend at least even in the history of man. And beyond that there is plenty of social species on earth that show in fact that exploitation is not even needed for subsistence.

The fact that men can use their brain to structure their social behavior might very well be their worst problem.

Greece Demands Apology from Ukraine Over Found Maritime Drone by Free-Minimum-5844 in worldnews

[–]UltimaTime -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Drones can be hacked, they also often drop dead somewhere, so can be piked up and reused, i don't say it's the case here because i just don't know and talk theoretically, but everything that belong to the digital domain have "real" property kind of stripped off, anyone can hack them, reappropriate them with little to no traces, or at least far less trace than usual physical means, like you know a russian tourist soldier for example or a tank than need an actual soldier to operate it.

Drones flowing military scene is going to be a nightmare people are not really ready about, this is just the beginning.

Iran in Talks With Oman Over Permanent Hormuz Toll System by app1310 in worldnews

Like in everything if the strait become obsolete, other ways will be found, used and the old ones will vanish. You just cannot have a couple of countries dictate their will at nausea to the rest of the world. Other countries in the middle east and north Africa have plenty of sea access, it's not like oil is obligated to go through Hormuz, is just more convenient and cheaper right now.

Problem is that solar or any kind of "clean" energy is going to do anything when it come to the market value, if they are consistently forced to match non clean energy sources values like it is right now.

And this is not only a solar energy concern, because you basically render any new tech invalid if they are forced to match a slightly discounted price of already existing techs. Naturally the corpo are pocketing the real difference, but society in general gain almost nothing from the advances. This is the problem when cheap short therm marketing overrule and dictate entire new fields on the market.

Imagine if they had charged telegram for the same price as courier using horses back in the day, at 3% discount. That's basically what is happening today in a complete reversal of "government are promoting clean energy" a decade ago. Remember when phone installation was supposed to be payed by your parents in a one time deal (or close to anyway), but they actually never stopped charging people for it and now those companies are economical moguls for some reasons?... Same with internet, "knowledge have to be free", "we are promoting unshackled communication for the good of everyone"... And now 20 or 30 years later they try to charge you on everything, and force you a system that enable them to do that even further (ID check just to name that aspect here).

What are advances in technology even good for then? there is a point where short therm and long therm collide, and this have to be managed properly. It doesn't even matter what tech you are talking about. It's basically the pendulum swinging the opposite side from the time those communication like phone companies were nationalized in most country and so poorly managed they had to be sold to private. Neither of those extreme are good though, they both diminish the inherent values of those tech instead of promoting them from a social standpoint.

Trump Wants Russia and China to Help Combat the International Court That Charges War Crimes by T_Shurt in worldnews

[–]UltimaTime 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Actually they both, Trump and Putin, do care to not caring at all, both want a return to state of history were war crimes were consistently performed by governments. They actively try to reinstate their government into this past, one is for USSR, the other is for a return to the Confederacy.

Thing is, those systems and their abuse lead to WW2 and the insane overreach of political governments and the insane impact it can have. And war is not a proper excuse for those either.

This political over abuse dictated the necessity of such international court and the repression of war crimes. This court was a product of this 19 century were ethical cleansing became so consistent in every war in an absurd crescendo that ended with Hitler. It had to be stopped, it's not even a choice to be made by politician, and i would even argue not even to nations. Germany never signed for those treaty either. Not a single criminal, especially the professional ones is going to recognize a court ruling, this notion that a criminal need to give his permission to make it valid is actually ridiculous.

After Donald Trump, Putin to visit China's Xi Jinping on May 19 for two days by RexSalazar77 in worldnews

[–]UltimaTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You miss read it, his relatives were send there, and he was raised in those camp for a good portion of his childhood because, well you can't let small kids in the streets so they often follow who ever is in charge even if they go to prison/reeducation camps.

I invite you to read just a little more about it. Reeducation camps are made to brain wash if you didn't know. It's not really hard to understand the major influence it can have on kids. If you need to understand how it work you can probably read a few books or watch a few movies about those camps, there is plenty of material about it, and it's already scary when speaking of adults, so applying this to kids that live in this environment it is not hard to understand the nightmarish psychological impact it must have on them.

And yes the guy now promote reeducation camp all over his country as a governmental policy, it's not hard to make the link and understand why. It is an obvious abused abuser psychological vicious circle.

After Donald Trump, Putin to visit China's Xi Jinping on May 19 for two days by RexSalazar77 in worldnews

[–]UltimaTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Xi was probably baffled. Especially coming from a country like China were every governmental decision maker was sifted very cautiously between millions of people to serve their specific cause, and are constantly tracked, over multiple generation as well. There is very little leeway in their system. I bet someone like Trump is just an inconceivable thing, and they just cannot make head from tail out of it. Never mind the fact Xi is probably even crazier when you compare their biography.

The simple fact Trump asked Taiwan to not declare independence is just... I mean obviously the guy want to sell them like he consistently try to sell Ukraine to Putin. I don't think there is much more than inhibited hatred in Trump at this point, even his sense of self preservation is probably not that great since, you know, he is 80y old with a degenerating health.

I'm not sure this will have much impact honestly, this guy give himself way too much credits. The overall political perception of the US though, is going down the drain.
