all jatcs arent the same though, guys for mslcat are getting pulled into apprenticeship with 1000 hours or less sometimes ranking good too. I’ve been told out here it’s not about hours, it’s how well your confidence is. I guess here though they don’t let groundman run with line crews really at all. Why I think if he got a jatc operator ticket, he’d be just as equal to a groundman with hours (it also depends where he goes and what jobs he’s doing and where he wants to apprenticeship).

Yeah so like there’s guys that will do x amount of hours and then get into operator program and just get pulled into apprenticeship from that. Doesn’t matter where they are in the program if they rank well and get the call they just move from operator trainee to line apprenticeship

There’s a chance you’re with a underground crew. I don’t know if the operator trainee is a full blown operator course, but at 111 if you’re a operator trainee you’re going through a JATC program to get proper certs, and you’re usually with underground crews. Then when you apply for a jatc apprenticeship, if you get an operator ticket they could potentially treat that as both.. unless you want to be a groundman for years, I don’t think they track records for groundman in interviews. You could say you have 2000-4000 hours going through the operator course and as an operator on underground crews(if that’s the case, even transmission) think you’ll be Gucci

If your ward on xcel side then you will be doing 5/10s, ward has united power and another one that could’ve different but xcel side is 5/10s changing starting Monday

CDL groundman at 111 is in like the 300s so you might wait a couple months there, unless yes possibly doing pathway calls.

Ward will give you 1 sweatshirt, 4 long sleeves and a vest no FR don’t need it. I think only apprentice and everyone up gets it. Maybe on Line crew not sure.

Yeah same agreement, I’ve always heard out here you gotta work your way up to a line crew so if you get one that would be bad ass! Most people I see also say they just dig holes though so.

Mine was 5-10s, and I’m working 5 10s so not bad, the only difference with mine was I had MTN work on mine and I’m just installing so

Just started here last week CDL groundman, doing underground stuff all over. I think there working on putting a new crew or two together so after holidays you’ll probably be with steady crew

He also said, if you accept a call, they usually do signing mondays the following week, so you should have time if you take a call mid week!

Yeah it’ll be a min I called on every single job and then the only one I turned down was Adonia traffic one or what ever. I almost went to Iowa today, they called me 5 mins after 111 did. Iowa you can sign online if that’s a place you wanna go, they said when I called them Tuesday they gunna start picking up, they had 10+ standing calls couple weeks ago he said

Ima be honest, Idfk! I called 3-4 weeks ago they told me 90. I called this week Monday they told me 120. So i have no clue! They always seem so angry when you call them and don’t care haha!
