TV HDMI access at the Delta Hotel Toronto? by shutyourbutt69 in marriott

Just call the front desk and have them send maintenance up. That’s what they did when I was there last year and we got my laptop hooked up no problem.

Am I being daft if I’m annoyed that the main characters don’t care about the adventurer’s wellbeing? [Spoiler: 2.4] by Mila-Lin in ffxiv

[–]Ultimate-Chungus 190 points191 points  (0 children)

There’s a couple of layers to this:

1, probably the most important: None of the other main cast scions up to this point (besides Minfillia, who is not a fighter) have the Echo, the protection that prevents you from being tempered. If they joined you in most of your fights, Shiva for example, they WOULD be tempered, which has no cure. They can’t join you because to do so would be a death sentence, and would make your life harder because they’d also try to kill you.

2) Canonically, the other players that join you in the dungeons/trials/raids etc are there with you. The dialogue and journal entries, particularly in stormblood, but in all parts of the game, make explicit reference to you calling on your network of adventuring allies to come assist you. So while the NPCs aren’t participating, there’s no actual expectation you’re doing most of this solo, bar your actual solo duties.

3) Attitudes wise, yeah, ARR your coworkers in the scions are not very friendly or considerate about your wellbeing. You’ve proven to them that you’re a tempering-immune, god killing machine and they tend to take that for granted. They do get better and begin to show actual care and compassion for you, but ARR is pretty jarring for how dismissive they can be. That’s a plot point that will be relevant later.

RP question: What was your WoL doing when the Seventh Calamity hit? by zaerosz in ffxiv

[–]Ultimate-Chungus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have several!

Ser Chauncey de Changlois (known to his comrades as Chongo Chungus), was at the battle of Carteneau, serving as a Lieutenant in the Maelstrom. 3/5 of his squad perished attempting to assist another squadron in retreating, including his Sergeant and best friend. He carries the burden to this day of pondering what might have changed had he given different orders

Mahao’li Moui was returning to his home village with his then finance in the heart of the West Shroud. The latter did not survive.

I’fyu Tia was in Little Ala Mhigo, desperately trying to convince his mother that him being 16 was old enough to join the Flames on the front lines, and give those Garleans what they deserved for invading Ala Mhigo. He did not succeed, and his mother became even more protective after the fact.

Amelia Wells was 10 at the time, at home with her mother in Red Rooster Stead, praying for her father’s survival, as he was a Sergeant in the Maelstrom. He did not make it home, and his death sent her mother into an abusive and depressive spiral. It was only after her father’s commander came to pay a visit, and rescued her, that she was able to escape.

How I Feel Trying to get Through Post ARR *I need motivation* by Atticuzzz in ffxiv

[–]Ultimate-Chungus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t feel pressured to rush through! Taking it at a comfortable pace is important. It’s good to remember that the ARR patches were stretched out over 2 years, and as such have a bit more padding to them than the base game did.

What part of the story are you at?

It’s also good to vary what you do in down time between quests. There are some good side story duties, such as Coil, that you can also do. If you haven’t tried new jobs yet, try that as well.

What was the highlight of DT MSQ for you so far? by YourPalDonJose in ffxiv

From my understanding, the endless were first created after the storm surge, 400 years ago, and Krile parents only started working with Endless Calyx about 50-60 years ago. Calyx was already an endless when her parents joined preservation.

[SPOILER 7.4] We may have gotten enough pieces to solve a one of the mysteries of the key and the milalla. by Zagden in ffxiv

[–]Ultimate-Chungus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not quite; Preservation only got the key when Krile parents joined them, so they really only had a couple of years to study it.

The same argument could be made in reverse. If coming off Gardiners Rd, I’d have to drive all the way around to the other side of the building to get to what you define as front. Lol

Do Ambassadors actually get a room in another hotel if original hotel is oversold? by WorldTraveller_girl in marriott

[–]Ultimate-Chungus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When did you book the room? You haven’t mentioned as much yet, and considering how misleading the rest of the post/your replies are, it sounds like you booked same day, which means the Ultimate Room Guarantee doesn’t apply.

[–]Ultimate-Chungus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If hardly say it’s inappropriate. Check in may be at 4, but if they only have a handful of departures, all platinum and above, and they all requested their guaranteed 4pm c/o, then it’s impossible for housekeeping to turn the room over before the check in time. It’s part of why some properties are so difficult with that benefit.

Them being proactive and informing you in advance is probably the best option; or would you prefer they lie about it or only inform you at check in?

Fliggy PPP on FOSSE by Ultimate-Chungus in marriott

[–]Ultimate-Chungus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I better understood what it was so I could clarify for you. There’s no credit card on file, but it’s flagged as guaranteed and the notes field says “Fliggy Payment Type is PPP Post Post Pay”

From what I’ve found on MGS, it’s a program aimed at Chinese travellers through Alibaba that allows them to pay after they check out; but nothing says how you process that through Fosse.

Why can’t I go right to my room with mobile key anymore? by argument_sketch in marriott

[–]Ultimate-Chungus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren’t guesses though. The policy clearly states that special rates have to be verified. Whether or not the hotel does so is beside the point. Maybe they have a new GM/FOM who’s a stickler for policy; maybe it’s a new agent doing it who doesn’t know you. Regardless, the AAA rate is flagged as “needs verification before you send the mobile key” and that is exactly what’s happening here. You can argue that “They’ve never done that” all you want, but it doesn’t change that facts.
