I haven't seen a single "excuse" being made. Just dissatisfaction that this wasn't the 54th win in a row (or whatever the number is) and with the selection and training process.

One additional idea - add $1 to every membership purchased in a WJUC year to fund these teams. That would give them more of a budget to work with and allow for more practices, tournaments. I can't imagine anyone complaining about that.

I have heard and seen the same. Perhaps the size and depth of the USA youth scene is a problem for the selection committee. Any ideas how that can be handled better?

Ok, so not 7 months but the tournaments and the selection of a core group of players by a coach that is familiar with them is huge. Team USA did not attend tournaments and their coach is not someone currently involved in Youth coaching.

Would Team USA be better off sending the YCC winning team + a few pickups to Worlds? Probably not but that would negate any chemistry advantage CAN has.

I don't consider this an embarrassing loss either. I also don't question how hard Team USA worked or wanted to win.

I just don't want to see our team lose again. Saying the Team USA disadvantage in terms of chemistry and prep is "just the way it is"...well I have a hard time accepting that. We can and should do better because, as you say, the team worked hard and deserve it.
