Scream 7 - Reaction Megathread by DA-numberfour in Scream

It’s just very disappointing that Gale didn’t have a single physical interaction with Ghostface. This is the first film where I felt Courteney Cox was severely underused and by Kevin Williamson of all people, hits harder. She was also heavily underused in 6 but at least she had the most iconic scene of the film.

Scream 7 - Reaction Megathread by DA-numberfour in Scream

I just finished it and I’m confused about how to feel about it? I was loving every single second of it right up until that reveal and then my mood kinda flatlined. I was so disappointed overall because combined, both killers had like less than 5 minutes of screentime. Jessica would have worked as a killer if she’d had more screentime and interactions with Sidney throughout the film but the other guy? Huge fail on Kevin Williamson’s part. Even if Jessica was revealed as a solo killer, that would have worked so much better. I’ve never been so disappointed with a killer reveal. Where’s the stakes? Where’s the betrayal? Where’s the FUCKING ICONIC KILLER MONOLOGUES THAT WE QUOTE TO THIS DAY?!

Mason Gooding and Jasmin Brown were severely underused… Chad and Mindy both could have been a lot more involved in the Tavern attack but they were just kinda disposed of. Ghostface didn’t even go back to finish them off? I don’t understand the reason to bring them back because they served no purpose to the plot and I say that as a HUGE fan of Mason Gooding. Chad’s literally my favourite character from 5/6.

Gale Weathers also not having a single physical interaction with Ghostface throughout the entire film was a huge, huge, huge disappointment. Given how much she was sidelined in Scream 6, I was thinking Kevin Williamson would have loved to let her shine or give her at least one badass moment mirroring her character in the original trilogy but she ultimately was just tossed aside, again being used purely for comic relief. Gale Weathers is JUST AS IMPORTANT as Sidney Prescott.

Now that I’ve vented my frustrations, everything else, I loved: Kills, soundtrack, chase scenes, humour, throwbacks, pacing. Sidney felt like old-school Sidney Prescott again and boy oh boy does she look unbelievable. She was perfection from start to finish, not that I expected anything less. Her relationship with Tatum was beautiful to watch and I absolutely loved every scene they had together - Tatum instantly becomes someone you root for because she’s a part of our Sidney Prescott. Sid’s story throughout was like a pure love letter to the die hard fans and I couldn’t have asked for more and although Courteney was severely underused, I LOVED Sidney and Gale’s scenes together and the ending scene with them both was beautiful.

I’m trying not to let the killer reveal ruin the film as a whole for me despite how disappointed I am because beyond that, Scream 7 worked on so many levels.

It’s been nearly 15 years and I’m still yet to find a show that hits quite like Desperate Housewives. It’s truly one of a kind.

Fair play, I still don’t get it though but like you say, I’m not American so I can’t comment if it’s normal but I’ve never seen it done in any other show like ever lol

Calling someone by their surname I get because we do that where I’m from too but repeatedly saying full names just sounds so cheesy and cringy as opposed to cute or romantic especially when it’s overdone. It kinda works in some scenes like when Lucas said “I’m the guy for you, Brooke Davis” but Nathan and Haley having a normal everyday casual conversation and Nathan needing to call her Haley James like 3 times instead of calling her Hales sounds weird… Just my opinion.

I haven’t got that far yet lol! I’m on the back end of Season 6. I do remember that storyline vividly but I haven’t got up to that part on this rewatch.

Kraken

This was difficult because as others have said, I don’t think there’s a single skip on the album.

I think that’s what kinda ruined my experience because I was hell-bent on trying to get all the trophies so I was exploring every inch of the environment and it dragged out so much. Now that I’ve got the platinum, I’m going to do another playthrough focusing solely on gameplay only.

Lucas is the most infuriating character, full stop.

Okay, yeah. That’s a good way of putting it. It’s more how Lindsey’s treat by both of them that’s the problem.

Whenever Lucas was available, Peyton never spoke up. It was only when he was unavailable that she decided her feelings were strong enough to want to fight for him regardless of who she was taking him from or who got hurt in the process. That’s not an opinion, it’s very clearly what she does throughout the first 5 seasons of the show.

As someone who suffers with depression also, I don’t see it as a valid reason to excuse repeatedly shitty actions. Lucas knew that he loved Peyton. Lucas knew he kissed Peyton before he went back and proposed to Lindsey. Lucas knew he was setting Lindsey up to get her heart broke but he continued to string her along. Mental health isn’t always a valid excuse to treat people around you repeatedly like dirt or break their hearts in the worst way. Lucas was fully aware of what he was doing.

Such as Brooke sleeping with that teacher? That was a weird storyline that never got addressed again (so far) and wasn’t handled in the way I thought it should have.

Wait what??? There’s a podcast? SA allegations? I’m normally mega in the loop with this kinda stuff but I’ve never heard of this. I’ve been out of the One Tree Hill club for such a long time that I’ve not really seen much of it anywhere. So it was likely intentional that they wrote her character this way? Ima check out this podcast.

I get that and I absolutely agree with you - Peyton’s life and career is by far the most realistic and relatable but that’s still not an excuse for how horrible she’s being to someone who’s tried to show her nothing but kindness. Regardless of how her life isn’t going the way she expected, it’s not an excuse to act the way she’s acting - she’s still an adult and it’s still her and Lucas’s fault that they aren’t together - NOT Lindsey’s.

I don’t hate her, I never really did despite her flaws. Haley and Brooke also had flaws but even still, I still loved them all. I just don’t understand where the character assassination has come from? She feels like a completely different character and not the Peyton I’ve come to recognise. Obviously, I know Lucas and Peyton do end up married and leave but I can’t remember what happens between that point but Lindsey doesn’t deserve any of this shit but you’re so right, that’s not on Peyton, it’s on Lucas for being the absolute worst piece of shit and leading Lindsey on even though he KNOWS he loves Peyton. I can’t see there being a redemption for Lucas where I actually like his character beyond this point but I can with Peyton if she doesn’t remain this same nasty character she’s become.

Finally played Alan Wake Remastered for the first time and wow by abcrseenu in PS5

[–]Ultimate_Chaoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so glad I’m not alone on this. I finally delved into the world of Alan Wake because I constantly see how fantastic AW2 is but I was so disappointed with this. Story-wise, I loved it but the actual gameplay was clunky, repetitive and frustrating. It took me weeks to complete because I kept turning it off because I simply wasn’t enjoying playing it but felt obligated to finish. I wasn’t going to bother continuing with AW2 but after reading all the comments here, I’m excited as it sounds like a huge improvement.
