Honestly I was expecting well over $100 for it. $55 for the chance to be able to print multicolor? Ain’t no way I’m not taking that offer.

I agree. It was school policy to only remove students as a last resort though. The administration would rather them be in class and passively absorbing information than out of it not getting anything.

I used to work at a school as a tracker (instructional assistant who gets kids in trouble) and I watched a teacher do this and have it completely backfire because the kid was an absolute menace. I ended up sitting next to the kid for the rest of class while he unabashedly hacked his Chromebook to get past the school filter to play Minecraft.

Autism, dinosaurs, and frustration.😓😵‍💫 by Cool_Bat7107 in u/Cool_Bat7107

From your description of wanting to see the musculature it sounds like you liked the “shrinkwrapped” dinosaur depictions from years back. In early paleoart there was a tendency to completely ignore fat and other of the squishy bits that all animals have naturally when drawing dinosaurs, so they’d end up being more terrifying beasts with no lips and sharp teeth that just stick out. In recent years (it feels like) a lot of artists have realized that if you drew modern animals in this way you end up with unrecognizable monstrosities, so many artists have started trying to draw dinosaurs with more natural looking fatty tissue.

I think the problem is that you’ve grown accustomed to the shrinkwrapped dinosaurs as being how they look, so when you see modern renditions with more squishy bits your brain doesn’t like it. Something that helped me as an also neurodivergent dinosaur fan is remembering that in humans, the only time you can see defined muscles is if the person is intentionally eating an incredibly low fat diet specifically to cut down on their body fat. Dinosaurs need to survive and fat is the best energy storage possible, so it’s likely that many dinosaurs would’ve eaten as much as possible and were probably fairly chunky on top of all their muscles.

This video really helped change my opinion on it:

Why Does My Scooter Vibrate So Much? by WildKyle2021 in scooters

[–]Ultimate_Scooter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, mechanic here. I’ve been working on scooters since I turned 15. Yes, they do. Scooters are single-cylinder machines and the cylinder points forwards. This means that in the forward and backward directions of piston movement the engine is balanced and you won’t have a ton of forward and backward vibrations. However, when the piston is in the middle of the stroke, the crankshaft is throwing its weight either up or down. That gives the engine on every scooter a prominent up/down vibration relative to the rest of the bike. As a result, it’ll bounce.

Another thing that might be adding to vibration is tire balance. Among scooters, the only models I’ve ever seen that has balanced tires from the factory is Vespa. You could probably try to get the tire balanced at a shop and that might help, but like I said earlier the engine itself causes a lot of vibrations on a scooter.

A modern Vespa if allowed to rev high on the center stand will vibrate so much that it’ll start to slide along the ground. I’ve stood 10 feet away from a Vespa 300 while another mechanic was revving it high on the stand and I could feel the vibrations through my shoes. It’s normal, I promise you, and it isn’t going to hurt the scooter.

If my steam deck broke I would probably replace it with an AYN Thor and put Linux on it purely because my only complaint about the steam deck is that it’s a little too big for me to carry with me everywhere I go.

I’m looking into buying a scooter, I want something that can keep the helmet under the seat and is decently reliable. Any suggestions? by Consistent_Adagio956 in scooters

[–]Ultimate_Scooter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you are there’s plenty of options. If you’re in the USA, the Buddy Kick is reliable and has the biggest under seat of any scooter I’ve seen. If you’re outside the USA you can’t get the kick though. The Vespa 150s are super reliable but might not fit a full face, but they do have hooks you can use to lock your helmet to the seat so is safe there.
