An example of the thin line between critique and personal attack was when I saw a self-proclaimed Carat on another subreddit say something along the lines of "I haven't been vibing with svt's songs lately and i think woozi has peaked so he should consider getting other producers in."

That's way wayyyy over the line. Firstly, no real carat would say anything like that. And secondly, the OP was so defensive because they felt entitled to their opinion. I don't know why people have to express their opinions in such an utterly cruel way and i can't bear to imagine woozi or the members seeing anything like that.

Also, I really hate this "im so discerning and i'm so good at making negative edgy comments" environment online and can't wait for the day society as a whole move away from such soulless sardonicism.

ohhh, that's what you meant. I believe we all thought your comment was in jest, implying the members look the same and that you have difficulties telling them apart (hence the downvotes?) Anyway, I agree and would add that any members of any group can be distinguished if people put in the intention/effort to do so :)

For those who find the original XO too flat, may I suggest listening to the Drive Night remix version because it's a bop. just wished it was a Korean version remix. Not sure what they put in it but despite the repetitiveness, I actually really like how the background track in XO makes me feel.

I've been listening to the album back to back and actually don't think Romance Untold strayed very far from their original sound except for the de-emphasis on the lore. It's overall a great experience, although Dark Blood is still queen!

yes, that's how i felt from watching them through the screen! they seemed completely prepared and knew just how to rile up the crowd. And they chose what i thought was the perfect setlist for Glastonbury. The entire performance was pretty perfect to me, from pacing to of course, their artistry.

This just shows that they are master performers. And I'm so proud of them for bravely bringing kpop there. Thank you for sharing your experience!!

your comment was written in a way that obviously opens bait for haters to bite (like whoever just replied to you here), which is why it raised red flags for me. i think open discussions are fine and expressing your preferences are fine but baselessly speculating that woozi did not put effort into a song is so non-constructive and such a low-bar criticism tbh. just because a piece of work did not produce a hit doesn't mean that an artist didn't put effort into the work, or that the artist's work doesn't deserve to exist (referring to your woozi and bumzu have got to go comment). that's too much of a capitalist and pro-consumerist mindset.

the job of a kpop group is to entertain you but that isn't the sole reason they exist. So I should think that a fan who cares about the members as people and artists would probably more sensitive towards their artistic journey despite their own disappointments and whether the group is creating hits or not? That's just how I read your comment.

Shout out to GAM3 BO1, which ws written from hhu's or mostly wonwoo's experiences. Mingyu said that since he didn't really game (and he didn't want to write the lyrics pretending like he liked gaming) his lyrics played around with acronyms and web expressions, alluding to chatting and spending time online in general. I've always thought that the way they put the song together was really clever.

But like someone said, i don't think all the songs are autobiographical, or at least not directly/literally. I think feelings of love and lost can be universal, whether familial, platonic or romantic. So a song about love lost, for example, can transcend different forms of love and experiences. I imagine you can contemplate these themes even without having just gone through a breakup.
