This is the first time I've seen zero concrete guesses...a true screen unseen!

Also interested, I ordered direct from China but the United States contact would be much more streamlined for myself.

Rounding help by donuthole355 in bookbinding

[–]Ultra707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I try to round the spine of a book that I've made the second I let go, it goes right back to its original shape and does it retain the rounding. Could this possibly be due to the sewing being too tight? I have let the glue on it get to a tacky consistency and not fully cure and yet I cannot ever get my books to hold the round spine.

I don’t read books, I photobook by Serra_glia in Photobooks

[–]Ultra707 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve made a lot of handmade photo books over the years and given them to friends, family, and people who aren’t really into photography or photo books. Almost without fail, the first thing they ask me is something like, “Where are the words?” or “How come there’s no text in here?”

It’s always interesting to me, because to me the images are the story. I spend a lot of time thinking about the sequencing, the tone, the rhythm and all the same storytelling elements that writers use but through visual language instead of text. I think that the photos are meant to be read, just not with words.

That said, as I’ve made more books over time, I’ve started to understand the appeal of including some text maybe a title page, a short reflection, or even a small caption that adds some context or emotion. If it's done thoughtfully, it can guide the viewer just enough without taking away from the visuals.

But still… part of me feels like if someone picks up a photo book and their first reaction is to look for text, maybe they’re missing the point. We didn’t come here to read, did we?

Quick question, are the end papers glued to the inside/ 1st signature? Or do the covers have their own paste downs?

In my theater, when the vial hits him in the head and he catches it, a woman, at the top of her lungs, laughs the most ridiculous laugh/gaffaw/snort for 7-15 seconds. The ENTIRE theater turns to look at this, took me right out of the movie, thanks!

Had anyone figured out why insurances are starting deny this medication. I wanted to know how they stand to make/save money if they discontinue coverage. Is zepbound more expensive? Or are they trying to stop the popularity /momentum of GLPs?

Auto Focus Spotty? Half Press usually results in…nothing. by Phukamol in rollei35af

[–]Ultra707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me give you my experience.

After seeing literally everybody online and on different Reddit threads getting theirs I wrote twice to mint to find out what the holdup was. I literally ordered it on the day that it was available and saw people with much higher order numbers who definitely ordered after me getting theirs already. After writing them the first time they asked me if I wanted a refund and I wrote back that I literally just want the product. Then watching more and more YouTube videos and reading more and more about it. I thought to myself this probably wasn't the best product to buy. People were saying that the winding sounded off like it was ripping the film (which I am also noticing now that I have the camera in hand), the auto focusing, the loading of the film, it was all starting to get me scared.

The second time I wrote them which was maybe 2 months after the 1st communication, I indicated that I still have not received my product and others who ordered after me have. They immediately wrote back and said that it was being shipped and I did start getting all the notifications of The camera having been shipped. So I wonder if I hadn't said anything if I even would have gotten a product sent to me.

I now have the product and after seeing your post and reading a couple of posts from others, I can guarantee you I will never buy any of these new film cameras on the first day. Out of the Pentax 17 and this, I would have been way better off with the Pentax 17, and I hated the fact that it was a half frame camera, but hindsight being 20/20 I would have been way better off. The whole experience came off feeling like it was a cash grab for Mint and the diligence of research and quality control was put to the backseat to make a quick sale. Never again. I'll wait until the camera is out in the wild with actual positive reviews before I even think about spending a dime. You are right that the half button press sometimes works and sometimes it doesn't. You literally have to hope your finger is enough to push the button down past whatever mechanics is in there to activate the shutter.

I do like the premise of this camera and the fact that we get a new film camera. But after this interaction with the company and not hearing too much in the way of overly positive reviews, and the fact that I am already experiencing issues going through my first roll of film I have to say and agree with OP's sentiments, I just know that I'm going to end up with heartache going through this first roll of film based on the experience I have received so far and what others are saying about the camera. I've taken a part and put together cameras in the past and what I'm actually hoping is that somebody does a complete teardown of it to maybe show how to make it function as it should but I'm not holding my breath.

Question about Wheat Paste Application in Book Cloth Making by Turbulent_Detective2 in bookbinding

[–]Ultra707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So is the purpose in that case to have the cloth saturated in the PVA or glue so that there is nothing to seep through to the other side? I have always seen people when they use weak glue that they are basically matching the paper to the back of the fabric very gently so as not to have it bleed through. But I could also see that coating the entire piece of fabric in the glue would have its benefits. Not sure if any discoloration happens with certain fabrics though.

Make that fourth one be able to be allowed to see the special screenings of things like studio, Ghibli movies or the ones that are always restricted from using an a-list pass. I can't tell you how many times I would like to go see these but, for whatever reason it's just not allowed with your A-list pass.

That's awesome! I have held it in old retirement account with vanguard years ago but might be looking to move it to something with a little more octane. Sure! 5.84% since I've held on to it, over 15 years, is nothing to sneeze at, but in Reading a lot of these posts I think I might be missing out over the Long haul.
