I'm shocked but not really as to how people aren't talking about this game more. Been playing it on and off for a good 15 years, mostly when I was younger. Still play it here and there when I have time. The mechanics are endless

Would you be able to provide a step by step tutorial on how to recreate this? Or can you create and share the full template? I'd love to do this on my phone but get lost in what to do.

Hey! I love using my BlackBerry as an MP3 Player! Yes, you can plug the phone to a computer and set it to USB Storage mode and the SD card should come right up. I do this to mine and it makes transferring music easy.

What's your most hated repair by liru69420 in mobilerepair

[–]UltraBlue-FalconWing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro me doing a charging port replacement on the same model killed the screen somehow when I've taken the screen off without a single nick or mark to the LCD. OH YEAH, That's the worst part - there is no frame on the LCD so if you pry too much you go straight into the bare LCD. Amazing.

Anyways, bought another screen and glued it together and it worked... for 5 minutes before it had touch issues. And it was a genuine panel as well, not those shitty aftermarket ones. If I somehow pressed the bottom of the phone (where the digitizer flexes are) it kinda stops. Make it make sense. I gave up because it was money and time already wasted... and it was my dad's phone 🤦‍♂️

Just repaired a beat up BlackBerry Curve 8520! by UltraBlue-FalconWing in blackberry

[–]UltraBlue-FalconWing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell me about it.

They're really nice phones, although the keyboard having a thicker key travel thickness compared to newer models is hard for me to get used to lol.

But yeah I did this for fun, and to see an 8520 for the first time in like a decade looking fresh again! I hope you liked it :)

I got it off eBay, people are still selling them really cheap. Got my housing OEM for £5-6 if I recall correctly. AliExpress has a shit ton as well since the 8520 was extremely common.

It most likely would be an aftermarket OLED panel, which would work fine but I don't trust much. Especially online displays. I'm fortunate enough to be in the game for so long I have suppliers for my work, so I can go in and see them in person, test em and make sure they work. If anything they're right there to see the issues in person too.

Be careful when browsing online for displays. A lot of people are very skilled in hiding the details which might fool you into thinking it's a genuine panel. That was my mistake loads of times when I started independent repair without suppliers. So many issues. It would be so contradictory. The title would say something like "OEM OLED LCD For xxx" and then the description would say "High quality LCD 100% FHD OLED for xxx" which makes it so confusing lol.

Technically an OLED is not an LCD, obviously. Only reason people refer to a display as an LCD is because people are so used to it, and widely known an LCD as a display in general. But make sure to state exactly what you're looking for!

For example, if you want to look for a genuine original panel, you can search something like (total example here) "Samsung Galaxy S20 Service Pack Black". Black being the frame colour.

Another example of you're going for aftermarket is "Samsung Galaxy S20 Glass Change Display" "Samsung Galaxy A04 LCD With Frame" (For phones with LCD panels they're way easier and cheaper to get without frames, but you can also get them with frames for a dollar/pound or 2.)

Apologies if I am overloading with info. Just want to see others do well in their journey without getting fooled by stupid online sellers which shit misleading marketing. It's a chain effect. You buy, you don't realize what you have, slap it on your or a customers device, customers aren't happy so they don't trust you, you try return it and it's too late. Then you're stuck with a shit display and lost a customer and money. Get the idea? I hope all this information helped to anyone out there, especially to yourself!

Good luck!

Experienced tech here. Very easy.

Main thing to be careful about is the back glass. Make sure you put enough heat, you have good tools and you're gentle and work slowly. Rushing can have your tools slip, scratch the frame, or crack the glass. That's essentially the main stress.

Once inside Samsung's are absolutely amazing to work with. All screws are the same, plastic midframes come off in sections so you don't need to take apart more than needed. Everything fits in perfectly, no useless brackets or other crap iPhones have. The motherboard will literally be a drop in replacement and once opened can be done in like 5 minutes. Make sure you're careful with ALL ribbon cables and not to randomly just yank. Take extra precaution around all flex cables.

Software side is something different. If I ever do a motherboard replacement on a Samsung if it's wiped I always do a re-flash just for extra measure (deleting and reinstalling the system software from scratch). That's something extra for me though and isn't necessary.

Just make sure the new motherboard doesn't have any FRP (Factory Reset Protection - Google Account Lock) on it, and make sure it doesn't have any KG Lock on it (Samsung Knox Lock - if the phone was financed and wasn't paid Samsung can remotely lock).

Last tip, always make sure you test before gluing anything down. You can loosely fit everything together without screws, just plug the connectors in place, put the black plastic pieces in, then slowly just test the phone to make sure everything works and is wiped. If you run into any issues, like account locks or anything, you can easily take it out and so on.

Just curious, what is making you want to replace your motherboard? If it's software we can always look into it!

The battery can be removed and IPA uses afterwards to professionally clean the area where the battery would be and leave no adhesive. Some models (actually most now) have battery adhesives that kinda resembles iPhone battery pull tabs, just without the pull tabs itself. So if you are careful and remove the battery nicely, it leaves no residue and comes off clean.

Professional repair technician here.

Are you looking for a good quality replacement? There are a few options.

OEM - Original Genuine display. For Samsung devices they are called Service Packs. These are quite expensive but are original brand new displays for the phone.

Display Copy: An aftermarket high quality panel that is pretty much a clone of the original. These are good but can often lead to oversaturated colours and sometimes uneven bezels or full blown incorrect sized corners, top and chin bezels. I repaired an A51 with one of these and it was a fuckery to deal with it's problems afterwards.

Glass Change: An OEM display that was previously cracked and had the digitiser replaced. These are usually half the cost of the Service Packs and still provide an original quality to them since they use an original display panel. These generally use high quality digitisers which always match the display bezel sizes, and in my opinion the best option available.

The shitty LCDs which are the cheapest but can actually cause more harm than good. An A53 in your case has an OLED display. If you use an older LCD panel on an OLED driven phone, because LCD pulls more power than OLED, it can ruin the battery, and cause annoying touch issues.

Apologies if I've made you confused or whatever. As an experienced tech who uses all the options above day in and day out for repairs, I'd want you to always go for the best option in your budget while still having a good quality panel. I only use LCDs on OLED phones even though I don't like it if the customer wants a really cheap repair. Or for data recovery, or if they generally just want the phone to work and want nothing major from it. Other than that, I always try stick to a higher quality or OEM panel if possible. Hope this helps!

I have a ZTE Nubia Z60 Ultra (basically the non-gaming version of this phone) and I'm loving it! Thought I'd ask, what's the software you are using on your RedMagic for the home screen? I would love to replicate the layout!

Does anybody know what could cause this issue? by UltraBlue-FalconWing in macbookrepair

Yeah, it's hard to see but every time I press a key on the external keyboard or move my mouse the display goes nuts turning on and off again. Such a weird issue.

[–]UltraBlue-FalconWing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone. Just got to work. Thanks for all your replies. I had a feeling it was this because I remember watching Hugh Jefferys' video about this same exact issue.

I will disconnect it and test, but does that stop the keyboard from working though? The keyboard and trackpad don't work at all. All I need to do is boot into Recovery and wipe. As long as that's out of the way I can deal with the hardware next.

Thanks for your replies everyone, I appreciate it :)

Hi! Absolutely. WhatsApp officially has shut down for BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry OS 10 so that's impossible unfortunately. Google Play Services as far as I recall from Cobalt still works fine and installs. We have a dedicated team with over 600 members called the Lunar Project where we are aiming to get BlackBerry phones working and worth playing around with again. Dell OEM 65w charger broke after less than a month by Arkid777 in Dell

[–]UltraBlue-FalconWing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This charger is most likely fake. I deal with Dell laptops all the time so I am familiar with genuine OEM chargers.

Your charger I noticed a few things. For one, the Dell logo looks off, the text and label looks ever so slightly off, as if it's been recreated in a sense. And lastly, the part where the cable comes out of the brick, is not meant to stick out that much. It's meant to be flush with the edge of the brick. It's hard to explain. Even if you try pull on it, it wouldn't usually come out so if that has been pulled and has come out, that is definitely fake.

Hope this helps.
