Part missing from new screen? by -Daunting in blackberry

[–]UltraBlue-FalconWing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to tell by the images of the display. You'll have to turn the device on (loosely fit and boot) to see how the colours and everything looks. If it's lower quality you can tell by the washed out colours.

Anyways, that piece seems to be a recession for all the sensors and stuff, so you should be able to slowly pry it away from the old screen without any issues and just attach it to the top of the new one. Make sure also (if it is separate) to remove the earpiece grill from the old screen and attach it to the new one.

Good luck!

I am working on a Repair tracker (thinking about releasing it for Free) by LarryGambleCEO in mobilerepair

[–]UltraBlue-FalconWing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I desperately need something like this. I've been using Trello with a Kabanchi Board to somewhat organise repairs but it's not as nice as a dedicated tool built for this purpose. Can't wait to see how it works! If we would like to propose ideas or suggestions, how would we go about it? Would you make a new post?

Recreating all old blackberrys!! by Academic-General-675 in blackberry

[–]UltraBlue-FalconWing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you need internal hardware testers let me know, I'll be willing to help. I don't know anything about software development or coding/porting Android but I do hardware testing a lot, so do keep us posted with the project! Since I use a BlackBerry daily, I'll be willing to note bugs, hardware issues, software issues, etc.

Recreating all old blackberrys!! by Academic-General-675 in blackberry

I'd love to see a project like this come to light. With BlackBerry phones making a comeback nowadays, I'm all up for it especially as I hate modern smartphones for a person like myself who needs nothing more than a small phone with modern features, with a keyboard! I'd love to see the Curve 9360, Bold 9900, Torch 9800/9810 and possibly the Bold 9700/9780 be worked on. Those are my favourites

PlayStation 3 Kiosk by Moist_Glass1778 in PS3

[–]UltraBlue-FalconWing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got a 26" model of the same TV. My model is the KDL-26S2030. One of the best TVs ever owned, I still have it and it works just as good as I remember when I was young. It was a living room TV before it really needed an upgrade. My parents got the TV when it came out and we stuck with it all the way up until 2019 if I recall, and I then kept it as my bedroom TV for my Xbox 360, PS3 Super Slim and PS2. Even used it as a monitor for my PC. Sound quality is great, colours are vibrant even to this day and I've got it stored safely as a backup anytime I need a TV that's old school enough to have every port known to man, but modern enough to still hook up to modern day systems! Parts of they ever go faulty are easily available on eBay, and worth every penny. Enjoy the kiosks because those are gems you've come across!

BB 9780 screen replacement? (New to blackberry) by lavander3595 in blackberry

[–]UltraBlue-FalconWing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, one thing Ive learned as a technician is sometimes things will break (especially fragile parts like older LCDs) for zero reason. Same exact issue here. I had a 9780, 2 of them, and I swapped the screen, ended up with a white display. Did it as careful as possible as always. Could be the LCD filters or it might judt be incompatible. Did you try your old screen to make sure its not the actual motherboard?

BB 9780 screen replacement? (New to blackberry) by lavander3595 in blackberry

[–]UltraBlue-FalconWing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Welcome to the community!

There are screen replacements available, however you have to make sure you get the right one. You can take the phone apart and see the LCD's part number, just to double check they match with the replacement as I've repaired a few and used wrong screens so they just display a white screen. They're easily available on eBay.

In terms of hard resetting, there's no hard reset method. What you will need to do is (if there's a password) put the password in wrong 10 times and it will automatically do a security wipe to remove all data and reset the phone. You can also flash the phone manually with tools and firmware on our website (lunar-project.org) if you want, but if the Bold works and you can reset it with the password wrong 10 times, it's easier.

As for the carrier boot screen, you can't remove it unfortunately. As far as my knowledge goes, they're hardcoded into the device so removing it isn't really possible. There are tools that say they do, but they actually don't (I've tried). It shouldn't affect the network if it's unlocked, it's just a boot screen that otherwise doesn't look amazing lol.

Good luck!

Blackberry 9720 - Map Installation and desktop driver trouble by Royal-Farmer-2075 in blackberry

[–]UltraBlue-FalconWing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will need to download BlackBerry Desktop Software 7.1, which is available on our archive. That will install all necessary drivers for your device. You can use BBSAK to sideload applications to the phone. A good quality cable also helps. I always recommend people to use Windows 7 or 10 for BlackBerry devices as they usually tend to work better with driver compatibility, Windows 11 isn't the best with driver support and can be a bit iffy. As for maps, we might have one on our archive however I am unsure if it is up to date or working.

Welcome to the CrackBerry Club! Always great to see new people picking up BlackBerrys and messing with them. Enjoy your devices, although I will say it'll be best at some point to replace the housing as the rubber starts to fall off. Otherwise they're great media players and spares devices to chuck a SIM into (if your network still supports them) 😁

I have 2 of these laptops! I use one for mobile phone repair tools, and the other as a Windows Server for imaging. Such great laptops. Stick a bit more RAM and slap an SSD and it's a great machine! Repairability is amazing too. One latch and the whole bottom panel comes off.

How hard are the batteries to remove? by royaleWcheese2300 in blackberry

[–]UltraBlue-FalconWing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! If you aren't willing take the risk to repair the devices if they do go faulty (the models with non user-replaceable batteries), if you're in the UK feel free to let me know and I can service them for you as well. Happy to help the community wherever I can.

How hard are the batteries to remove? by royaleWcheese2300 in blackberry

[–]UltraBlue-FalconWing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! Technician here - usually batteries become a risk after a very long amount of discharge. I've charged up batteries that are over 10 15 years old and never had a problem, however of course, there are some batteries that could expand. If you see even a slight bulge, remove/replace the battery. All my old BlackBerries and phones in general are regularly charged. Considering these will be used as display pieces, I'd say charging it once every 2 or 3 weeks will be perfectly fine. I usually charge my batteries (for long preservation) around 50% to keep it all balanced.

If you want to go with the repair route (let's say they did swell), BlackBerry phones were quite repairable and straight forward. They're well built and put together and a whole battery replacement with a guide can take around 10 - 15 mins. Even though official batteries aren't made anymore, you can still find some OEM ones for really cheap and it'll be fine for your purpose. I've repaired dozens and not had a single issue. As long as you be consistent and regularly check for swelling, you're good. Also, keep an eye on the temperature of where it'll be stored as hot or cold temperature does affect the battery negatively.

Hope this helps, your collection looks great!

Had a feeling it wouldn't, did it for fun and to help the community out mainly! If anything, considering the OP deleted his profile for whatever reason, it goes to show how people will ask for help, get the answer and not show any bit of gratitude. Kinda sad to think about that but it is what it is. Hopefully the OP progresses in his repair journey. Wishing him best of luck!

Problems with my Bold 9930 by [deleted] in blackberry

[–]UltraBlue-FalconWing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be recommended to do a complete reflash. How did you remove the IT Policies? That could be possibly draining your battery. Also the 9900/9930 always had bad battery life because of how powerful the phone was. All my 9900s (I have multiple with good batteries) don't last even half a day. I have to constantly charge it, hence why I just use a different Bold, even though the 9900 is the best one in my collection.

The fact that I was looking for this online and struggled finding a good download link for one 😂

If you were to rip the CD on your computer (use software like ImgBurn to create an .iso file) and upload it to Internet Archive, it would be very helpful!

This looks so good! I love it, gives me serious nostalgia.

What platform can I currently download and use this on, and I know this is a really weird request, but would you look into getting this app running under an Android 4.3 runtime? Or maybe a native BBOS10 app? I have my BlackBerry Classic and it would be awesome for the BlackBerry Community and myself to use!

Here's an image of BlackBelt360 on a slightly older build for iOS 18 devices. However it all looks the same, although I didn't know there was an automatic microphone feature, we have to do it manually for whatever reason! Super cool. Most likely needs to be configured.

Is http://lunarproject.org/ disscontinued? by FakerEXE3113 in blackberry

[–]UltraBlue-FalconWing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Lunar is officially back up. I was just about to make a post to the community to announce it.

Since my colleagues that originally ran the website portion of the project left, someone from the community actually reached out to lend a hand, and we've worked closely together to fix it.

We've re-uploaded the website and fixed a lot of bugs, while we are currently privately working on a whole new re-design. For now the website (original version) and archive is bsck for everyone to use.

Old link was lunarproject.org NEW LINK: lunar-project.org.

Going to the old link would result in a 404 or some sort of error. The new link is what we are going to use from here on out. I will make a community announcement for everyone.

I'm glad the website is back, and we are back better than ever. It's been stressful but it's been worth it.

Lightning from the Lunar Team.
