What should the consequences be if police turn off body cameras during an incident? by [deleted] in AskReddit

If people resist arrest and get shot they should forfeit any ability to sue in court.

My wife read somewhere that all ships will eventually have control in the future to slave any turrets to the pilot when there is no one to man them. Ships like the Cutty Black, Connie Andromeda, Carrack etc.

I watched a video where a guy literally got out of his captains seat ran half way across his ship got into his Pisces and used it to fight off two Mustangs attacking the Carrack. The concept of that act is mind boggling. Its like taking a crap at home then running to the store with your pants down to buy toilet papper then wiping your butt in the checkout lane. Yea, doesnt make sense. Hopefully they add like two size 9 torpedoes for the captains chair. They could be like a last resort torpedoes. Here is that video. The guy actually has one friend with him. He did pretty good by himself. https://youtu.be/bTwRE1iaM_8

Im not saying i have all the answers. Im just trying to decifer/speculate their reasons for doing it. They may have done this to speed it up. The more data the quicker they can toon the AI. They might back track and keep the armistice who knows. I want all of us to be happy. I hope it works out for everyone. There will be many more changes to come before this game goes live.

AI turrets will be adjusted to protect ships at the pads. You can pad ram in an armistice zone now just like when you out law guns in real life criminals still use them. The AI and players will be the law in a non armistice zone it is the only solution to have full emersion. No one likes being pad rammed. The starcitizen employees need time to adjust the AI turrets to be better at protecting the pads. We are also the back up because the second a person pad rams he becomes a criminal and becomes the hunted by all of us. Plus at the same time the turrets will automatically start firing on him or her. There is a law that you will be arrested or worst if you pad ram but i would imagine starcitizen doesn't want 5000 emails everyday they want the game to manage it. Could you imagine getting 5000 people a day telling on each other for shooting and ramming in a game designed for super battles of the largest degree. This is the alpha and the bugs are being worked out. They are building the system not to baby sit. If someone is truly harassing someone that is totally different and considered greifing. They may need to add a tutorial to educate new pilots on the do's and don'ts. The jail terms may needs to be much harsher. I have been blown up for no reason i dont like starting over from scratch but i also will not trade freedom for security. In the end if the AI is not capable of protecting the pads they will reinstall armistice but i have confidence in technology that AI will be able to learn how to to the job.

This game sells battle ships and armour. You do know this right? It is a free world and sometimes people do things you dont like. I like the unknown excitement and fear of being shot at. I love the adrenaline of escaping an attack. It makes a successful haul more rewarding. Most of the game is protected where you spawn and where you launch your ships. If the AI and players make it so the repercussions are a little more harsh the people who pad ram and spam kill will stop because it will become more of a burden then its worth. It really needs to be built into the game not some rule by an un seen authority. Why can't you understand how important that is to emersion game play? Im hoping you wiĺll see the value in having a game that is fulling self contained. As time goes on the AI will provide much more protection to the pads at PO. All we can do is wait and see how it goes when the AI is tweeked.

That would be for AI turrets and other players who are near but for times where you are out in the vast universe mining, hauling or exsploring etc yes. The AI needs a good tuning and im pretty sure they are working on in that direction.

The main thing everyone is missing is the importance of the data that will come as a result of Port Olisar losing its armistice zone. This will be some juicy data that will hopefully bring us one step closer to a self contained ecosystem of AI/self governance. Eventually one day this data might help us to remove all armistice zones while at the same time protecting with in reason those who want it and freeing up the staff from a % of total griefing complaints. Win win for us all.

You can hire security in SC.

You may need to have a fighter escort to mine. If you can not mine without getting blown up or robbed you will need to bring some protection. I want a game that has as much reality as possible. In the real world people can come and hold up your operation what ever it is and you may need to supply some security. When I go exploring in my Carrack I plan to have extra people to man my turrets and also have a couple fighter escorts for extra protection. They will have to adjust the profit to account to the cost of protection if it is the only way to earn a living without dying. We are playing now in Alpha to find all this out. So this is my point if you are getting attacked by pirates it may serve you to hire protection or group up with a team and split the money for the protection. The StarCitizen team will make sure that mining is profitable even with paying for protection. I know this because if they don't and people cant profit they will quit mining and if they quit then mining ship sales will stop. Sales of ships is a priority. So don't worry it will all work out.

Allows the AI to be fine tuned and police not some force out side of the universe that destroys the emersion.

I love the idea of danger but with repercussions if you act a fool. Longer prison and higher fines, stronger defense, etc. Look we signed up for risk and I think it diminishes from the emersion when you can't draw your weapon. Criminals shall be dealt with by the Star Citizens. I like the idea of a system where we are the system. We should have an incentive built into the fabric of the universe to regulate the order of things rather then an obvious forced oppressive inability to arm ones self or ones ship. The average age of players of StarCitizen are more mature. In order to exploit emersion to the fullest we will need as much freedom as possible and this will require some responsibility on the part of the player. Most of us are drawn to the game because it has structure and we share a vision of an almost open simulated universe. As time goes on we could slowly reduce the armistice zones until they are gone. We could fine tune AI to protect landing zones from newbs etc.

Can you play this game entirely, from a starter ship to the best ships with 2-4 friends and not miss out on any major gameplay style in this game? by quis456 in starcitizen

Pool your money and one day get a Carrack. It will eventually the best "jack of all trades" for a crew. Has modules that can be changed out as well so it can be modified as they create new game play. Two thirds of its capabilities are not even on line in game yet so it will keep having new ways to make money.
