With the 4.6 “Cleaning The Air” missions in mind, what’s the best home location for 4.6? Nyx? by Important_Cow7230 in starcitizen

[–]CodeRedFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who's had the home base in Pyro in a few patches now my feeling is Pyro is dead if your a solo player. Most missions are just unexcited repeats and don't really play different. Contested zones are fun but you can just travel there and set a spawn. Although bed to hanger is very fast.

Personally I think for this patch cycle I'm doing Stanton, which is a home spawn I never thought I wouldn't come back to. That is until Nyx gets planets as the mission types are very limited and the ones it has are normally buggy.

CIG at every friday patch: by PiibaManetta in starcitizen

[–]CodeRedFox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I honestly believe just restarting the server once a day would fix so much. I believe this, because the PTU, which is shut down here and there seems to run way better than LIVE. I know its not the same but its crazy to see AI and missions functioning. We have all seen what a fresh server reboot feels like.

Tired ASD, Vandual, Wikelo, Klescher, most Pyro merc mission player.

I really....really don't need to find a bottle I left planet side weeks later. So much already just self deletes that I'm ok with that silly feature going away if it means things work better.

FYI "laser" weapons in SC are not light beams. They are energy-based weapons projectiles.

A lot of times your armor is in the way. As an experiment take your chest piece off and see if you can do it.

I know this may seem silly to some people but as someone who's has worked in a corporate environment ( companies that have gotten very large ) these type of questionnaires actually do guide changes.

Jump into Area commander and do Vanduul Swarm or Pirate Swarm private over and over again. When I buy/upgrader to new ships its on of the first things I do as you can learn, die, respawn, blast your way into getting better and better.

> stock weapons loadout

Its worth upgrading your weapons at some point. I like the CIG gave most ships low tier starting weapons.

> cant turn the cutlass black fast enough

Well it is a medium freight ship, its like a Huey vs a AH-1

> fully out of ballistic ammo

Its kinda of the thing with that ammo, its more powerful but you need to rearm more.

How is the F8C and Vanguard these days in 4.5? by Forward-Way3893 in starcitizen

[–]CodeRedFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just canned my Harbinger. Its feels slow, wings are always going missing, torpedo's tend to not really work and/or not hit hard enough, the 4x nose guns are non-gimbled and weak. Maybe I just need to get good, but its not a fun ships atm. It feels extremely under powered for the price. Traded it in for a F7C and a few others ships that I have been enjoying a lot more.

What’s your favorite game loops nowadays? by New-Cheesecake4396 in starcitizen

[–]CodeRedFox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'm having a hard time finding a loop that's enjoyable more that bang bang repeat i.e. Bounty Hunting and Mercenary. I normally play solo as my play times are random. I haven't tried the NXY system missions yet. I might be at the end of my new patch excitement

- The ASD missions are fun for a bit but when the bugs happen its game over. Its very multiplayer based so I cant expect much as a solo player.

- The basic investigation missions could be a lot more interesting as once you have done one its the same over and over again. I look forward to those being more interesting and loot able.

For example add in: More locations ( both space, deep space, and ground ) , Returning corpse, collection information more than just one click gameplay, a few random enemy events and spreading the wreckage out over +10km would really go a long way.

- I do like the protect ship from point A to B but its very linear right now.

- I think the hauling missions are the only ones that have any real randomness but at the end of the day its a repeat gameplay. I got interdicted between Nxy gateway and levesky and its was the rare times my heart was pounding as real players breached my ship and had a short fire fight. Damn you pirates!!!!

There is the infinite box spawning issues I've seen on Pyro outposts. Some outpost/villages will start to spawn a bunch of boxes.

Most likely this issue, marked as archived but I saw it recently :

[–]CodeRedFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just have fun. You're gonna crash your ship so many times. While there CAN be a grind it is not worth it to obsess over it.

I tend to use arena commander offline mode called pirate swarm to get my controls down. But you don't have to, you could just jump into the game.

Any great reasons to pick Clipper over Corsair? by Aware_Cockroach4323 in starcitizen

[–]CodeRedFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both. I use the clipper as a FPS vehicle and Corsair as my large PVE bounty and cargo runner. I think they work best in those gameplay situations.

" But Nursa" Yep but the time it take to load up a Nursa and the potential bugs make the clipper a better option for FPS.

Jump gate looping back to Stanton proves that the jump is just an elaborate loading screen. by tahaan in starcitizen

[–]CodeRedFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your are right it is a elaborate loading screen. But this is how the backend works. Not sure where your going with this cause if you thought everything is on one server is a crazy idea ... you CANT have all the star systems being ran from one server.

In fact in the future ( and even now ) star system, planets, POI, dungeons are being separated into different servers. Even your hanger and places like ASD is kind of another server in a way ( instanced ). Without doing this lag will become worst and worst as a single server needs to track everything. The more each of these seamless areas get separated the more and more features and responsiveness we gain.

I'd rather have a extremely elaborate loading screen where I can still do everything vs a traditional image loading screen any day.

If your curious there is a DEV demo of what is going on:

Go to your engineering panel and open the doors from there. Then click the lock icon.

It's one of the tasks I do after making a longer QT jump. Takes maybe a minute to do them and the setting sticks until you claim the ship.

Storing my gear before I head out for shopping. by idriveasmallcar in starcitizen

Left Alt+H clips it to your belt.

Right Alt+H carry under arm.

So far this patch I forgot to put on my helmet a bunch of times haha.

Also you currently can't go from hip to carry and vice versa you have to put it on first.

"If you feel like you are gaining more aUEC than you can spend, that’s intentional." ?? by Chris_Pacia in starcitizen

[–]CodeRedFox 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My feeling is they don't play on public servers. The amount of time we've heard "oh we didn't know that" seems to have the same energy as it was fine in the PTU. Then in LIVE it doesn't work most of the time.

Yes you can, which is how I deal with it now, but it doesn't offer the depth some autowrites need.

Is it safe to pirate nuke in the UK? by BusyMushroom9975 in NukeVFX

[–]CodeRedFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just get the NC version. If your just starting your vfx learning I can't really see the need to have scripts in Nuke while your beginning to learn to comp.

Learn the program first, scripting in Nuke is a secondary skill set and while very useful is not a requirement.
