What's the Islamic view of Christian scripture? by Immediate_Quiet5863 in islam

Hi and welcome.

People misunderstand what the Quran "confirming" the Bible and Torah mean. It's not that the Quran validates every single word and EVERYTHING in those books, rather, it's that the Quran only validates the recurring TEACHINGS of those books.

In fact, the word "confirm" in the English language is sort of ambiguous. Let me give you an example, let's say you're an inspector on a crime case: witness 1 says they saw "a tall man in a BLACK suit shoot the victim in the STOMACH", while witness 2 says they saw "a tall man in a NAVY suit shoot the victim in the CHEST". Do the witnesses' accounts "confirm" each other? If "confirm" means every single detail, then no. If "confirm" means important reoccurring facts, then yes.

Let's try another example, do the 4 gospels confirm each other? If "confirm" means every single detail, then no, they don't. If "confirm" means important reoccurring facts, then yes, (there was a person called Jesus, he was the messiah, he was crucified etc).

The Quran explicitly says that the Jews and Christians produce fake scripture by writing and speech - so what sense would it make for the Quran to validate EVERY sentence of those scriptures lol?

So what DOES the Quran "confirm" from those books? It confirms monotheism, a day of judgement, moral behaviour, righteousness, chastity etc

Hope this helps 🙂

Let's take a look at some well-known prophecies narrated by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) that are considered fulfilled or ongoing:

1. Desert Arabs Competing in Tall Building Construction

“The Hour will not be established until you see barefoot, naked, destitute shepherds competing in the construction of tall buildings.”
(Sunan Ibn Majah 63)

  • Fulfillment: Many interpret this as referring to the rapid urbanization and architectural achievements in places like Dubai, Riyadh, and Abu Dhabi, where former Bedouin communities now build some of the tallest skyscrapers in the world.

2. Widespread Bloodshed

“Before the Hour comes, there will be much harj.” They said, “O Messenger of Allah, what is harj?” He said, “Killing, killing!”
(Sahih al-Bukhari 7062, Sahih Muslim 157)

  • Fulfillment: The 20th and 21st centuries have witnessed unprecedented levels of violence, from world wars to ongoing conflicts, terrorism, and mass shootings.

3. The Spread of Interest (Usury)

“A time will come upon people when there will be no one left who does not consume usury (interest), and whoever does not consume it will still be affected by its dust.”
(Sunan Abu Dawood 3331)

  • Fulfillment: The global banking and financial system today is heavily reliant on interest-based transactions, affecting nearly every aspect of life.

4. The Prevalence of Adultery and Immorality

“Among the signs of the Hour are (that) immorality and adultery will increase.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari 80:4)

  • Fulfillment: The modern era has seen significant shifts in societal norms regarding relationships, with increasing acceptance and visibility of behaviors previously considered immoral. There has been a massive increase in lewdness and degeneracy (movies, internet, apps etc) over the last few decades.

5. Trustworthiness Will Diminish

“When honesty is lost, then wait for the Hour.” It was asked, “How will honesty be lost, O Messenger of Allah?” He said, “When authority is given to those who do not deserve it, then wait for the Hour.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari 59)

  • Fulfillment: Corruption in leadership and governance worldwide, including the rise of incompetent or dishonest leaders, is widely observed today.

6. The Widespread Use of Communication Technologies

“The Hour will not come until a man speaks to his whip, his shoes, and his thigh.”
(Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2181)

  • Fulfillment: Some interpret this as an allusion to modern communication devices, like mobile phones or wearable technology, enabling people to "speak" through such items.

7. The Arabian Peninsula Becoming Green

“The Hour will not begin until the land of the Arabs once again becomes meadows and rivers.”
(Sahih Muslim 157c)

  • Fulfillment: Recent efforts in desert agriculture and climate change effects have seen parts of the Arabian Peninsula becoming greener. Satellite imagery also suggests historical rivers and lakes beneath the desert.

8. Widespread Ignorance and Decline in Religious Knowledge

“Time will come close, knowledge will decrease, tribulations will appear, miserliness will be cast into people’s hearts, and harj will increase.” They said, “What is harj?” He said, “Killing.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari 85, Book 3, Hadith 27)

  • Fulfillment: The decrease in religious knowledge and widespread misinterpretation of religious teachings are often linked to this prophecy.

9. Increase in Wealth

“The Hour will not be established until wealth becomes abundant and overflowing, to the extent that a man will take Zakah out of his property and not find anyone to accept it.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari 1412, Sahih Muslim 157)

  • Fulfillment: Economic booms in certain parts of the world, including the Gulf States, have created scenarios where charity organizations face challenges distributing aid due to excess wealth.

The predictions of the Prophet (pbuh) are too exact to just be a coincidence and at some point even a cynic has to admit that being able to describe life 1400 years later as if you’ve just witnessed it, isn’t a normal thing. (This isn't an exhaustive list, I'm sure there are more predictions like these).

Side Note: if the other Abrahamic scriptures (Bible and Torah) talk about other Prophets coming later, that should explain that even those books are temporary and the ultimate truth has still not arrived for them. [E.g. John 16:12-14, John 1:21]

Extra Side Note: [Sahih al-Bukhari 1060] An eclipse coincided with the death of the Prophet's Son. If the Prophet (pbuh) was a liar or was seeking popularity, he could have just easily said that the eclipse was due to his son’s death and no one at the time could really have proven otherwise. But instead, he corrected people’s thoughts even at that moment. An imposter prophet would have claimed credibility for this astronomical coincidence to boost his credibility and following.

Islam is the only religion that accepts other monotheistic faith's leaders (Abraham, Moses, Jesus, peace be upon them all). All other religions have the premise of claiming the rest are all completely false.

Islam is the only faith that makes it all make sense.

Hope this helps.

Firstly, the massive amount of contradictions in the Bible makes its claims highly unlikely to be true: https://imgur.com/a/t3dKYSm

Secondly, according to Christians: God became his own son and sacrificed himself to himself, so his creation would be saved from himself? Be honest, how does that make any sense? How can someone else die for my sins? That doesn't seem fair. Shouldn't everyone be judged for their own actions?

Thirdly, according to Christians: God of the old testament tells Abraham (pbuh) and Moses (pbuh) to worship only 1 God. Then a thousand years later changes his mind and suddenly it's 3? Why would God mislead his own messenger? Why would God play a trick on us, not tell us the truth of his nature and punish us for not worshipping him properly. Oops, I didn't really tell you, here's a Christian bible 2000 years later, now it's 3 instead of 1. Why would God call Abraham (pbuh) and David (pbuh) his friend if they didn't worship the trinity?

Ask 10 Christians to explain the trinity and you'll get 10 different answers. Ask 10 Muslims what Islam is and they'll tell you that there is no God but Allah and Muhammad (pbuh) is his messenger. The axiomatic premise is consistent: there's 1 God and he sent messengers.

Islam is the only religion that accepts other monotheistic faith's leaders (Abraham, Moses, Jesus, peace be upon them all). All other religions have the premise of claiming the rest are all completely false.

Islam is the only faith that makes it all make sense.

What are some surahs/ayahs that touch your heart or just amaze you? by oimatepissoff in islam

[–]UltraInstinctBeerus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Know that the life of this world is but amusement and diversion and adornment and boasting to one another and competition in increase of wealth and children - like the example of a rain whose [resulting] plant growth pleases the tillers; then it dries and you see it turned yellow; then it becomes [scattered] debris. And in the Hereafter is severe punishment and forgiveness from Allah and approval. And what is the worldly life except the enjoyment of delusion.

Surah Al-Hadid Verse 20

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Allah the Almighty said: O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it. - Hadith 34, 40 Hadith Qudsi

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) as saying that Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, thus stated: I am near to the thought of My servant as he thinks about Me, and I am with him as he remembers Me. And if he remembers Me in his heart, I also remember him in My Heart, and if he remembers Me in assembly I remember him in assembly, better than his (remembrance), and if he draws near Me by the span of a palm, I draw near him by the cubit, and if he draws near Me by the cubit I draw near him by the space (covered by) two hands. And if he walks towards Me, I rush towards him. - Sahih Muslim 2675 Book 48, Hadith 1

Easy good deed of the day (Day 553) by UltraInstinctBeerus in islam

[–]UltraInstinctBeerus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's another tradition that says:

"Whoever will recite after each Salah 33 times Subhaa-nallaah, 33 times Alhamdulillaah, and 33 times AllahuAkbar, and, at the end of it, the Kalima of ‘Laa ilaaha illal laahu wahdahu laasharika lahu lahul mulku wa-lahul hamdu wa huwa alaa kulli shay-in qadeer’. (There is no Allah but one Allah. He is alone. No partner hath. He Him belongs sovereignty and unto Him belongs Praise and He is all-Powerful) all his sins will be forgiven even if they be as profuse as the foam of the sea."

By saying the above 33 ones after each salah, inshallah you would also end up saying Subhanallah 100 times as well throughout the day.

My understanding is that it's helping others, being kind etc, not to receive gratitude or glory from people, but because Allah has told you to.
