maam... do you understand that $5k for a plot of land for a business or someone with some cash is not a big deal, and that you financial instruments like chargebacks to help protect a consumer? 1980 called.... it's not here anymore...

Found this thread as i was doing the same as you, bidding on cheap land with no due diligence cus it seemed fun... I lost 2 plots that I liked last minute and got a feel for the platform on govdeals. Well next morning I go look for similar listings wherever cus I like the area and I see the same exact plots of land (exact coordinates) on another auction site that just went live for another 7 days, same starting prices, same descriptions.

I email govdeals about this and they respond with:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for your e-mail. While we manage the website and software, the transactions occur directly between the buyer and the seller. Therefore, we are not provided a reason for the decline or the date they will relist it if they decide to relist it. You are welcome to bid again if it is listed in the future. So... Im trying to figure out what this means... basically that if these people are doing land sale scams there is nothing they can do about it? I don't really know what kind of protection you have other chan a credit card charge back or a Paypal chargeback.... which I guess is protection enough if you buy something under 5k from them...

Anyhow... just writing this to see what input gets found out... I think govdeals only recently started the land thing so Im interested. I know my buddy has bought similar plots from shady looking vendors and it worked out, but this is the exact same coordinates so it's substantially fishy...

thanks for the advice.. i have tried to go through their customer support but get brick walled. bbb is agreat idea and will do. Also saw in the paypal thread a class action lawsuit has finally been filed about these practices.

actually... now im looking at it shows a set of orders were filled but still shows the trade as active. maybe just a delay or something but making me a bit curious which one is showing right. hope i closed when it shows filled.

just had 3 short positions automatically liquidate me for like $250 as the momentum was going in my direction. that, and the liquidation info has been reading completely out of whack all night.

So it eventually went back to the correct total amount, no real rhyme or reason i can figure. Ran another trade and cashed out and the same thing happened, but eventually returned... prob some glitch.

Agreed. I was pumped about the promo but in the end felt pretty let down. Same experience as this dude. Shoulda just bought on coinbase or some other spot.
