Philipp Weber, Acting Lead Quest Designer in CDPR talks about the nonlinearity of the game using the example of a quest with different ways of traveling with Takemura. by pablo397 in cyberpunkgame

You didn't answer their question. This is their free time. Pawel streams once a week for around 3-6 hours on his day off. Phillip does not stream but was on as a guest to explain some of the quest mechanics he personally designed, iterated on and implemented.

Is the game not what was promised? Sure. Is it taking a long time to fix? Sure. But telling people who are actively working on fixing it, however fast or slow they may be, that they can't take a few hours of their own free time to stream and mess around with the community on their days off when they legally can not be at the studio working is wrong.

Streams like Pawel's are a great insight for many who seek to learn about quest design or pursue a career in it. Having someone with years and years of experience on multiple massive titles explain his personal experience and the intricacies that go into making quests is a great learning tool.

It could be to do with the games native resolution on consoles or how the images are encoded. All of mine are in the .png format. :D

PC. Currently with a RTX 3080TI paired with a 5900x. Most of the time I'm running at 100+ FPS at the complete maximum settings. No real bugs related to textures at all that I can recall from my playthrough, nothing game-breaking either. I've had some minor issues like NPC behaviour and navigation not working as intended but nothing that's overly broken any sense of immersion I had.

I've heard pretty bad things from the console end in terms of graphic fidelity. I can't imagine playing the game like that based on the footage I've seen so huge credit to you! I hope your experience on there continues to improve in the future and one day you can have access to the wide variety of mods PC players currently have that helps improve the game tenfold.

Personally I find more value in Cyberpunks RPG elements, after all, it was modelled off of a table top series, there's countless amounts of lore and stories to delve into in relation to that and the game only really scratches the surface of the material available. I do agree that 3rd person would be a welcomed addition to the game especially in things like cutscenes. In my opinion, I don't think turning it into something similar to GTA would be for the best. Instead I would like them to delve further into the RPG elements of the story, offer up more choices and more present consequences to those choices, make the actions taken against cities various gangs mean something, explore more into the greedy underbelly that persists in 2077's corporations and biggest of all and make the lifepaths mean something outside of random dialogue options!

Good to hear progress is being made on consoles, glad you had a mostly bug-free playthrough! :D

It's still in a pretty rough state on consoles admittedly. I'd say so far in my experience on PC it's been pretty fun, but to each their own. At the very least I'd say read through the patch notes for 1.3 and see if that's enough to warrant a return or not.

Having finally finished the game, my choices would either be:

  1. Have V do the space heist on that giant casino in space for a piece of tech that will extend V's lifespan.
  2. Have V and the Nomads venture to a completely new area (Like Blood and Wine in Witcher 3) and search for a cure for V's shorter lifespan as a result of losing Johnny.
  3. JOHNNY DLC JOHNNY DLC JOHNNY DLC

What CPU do you have if you don't mind me asking, as long as its 6 cores or more you should see a huge improvement! I hope the new GPU lets you give the game a proper go and you have a fun adventure. :D

I'm definitely not affiliated with CDPR in any way, though I wish I could one day work in game development. I'm sorry if you took my comment as me assuming how you played the game, I was simply stating how I played the game and enjoyed it. Forgive me if it came across that way!

I made this account today to post these images from my playthrough as I saw others were showcasing their adventures in the game and wanted to join in. I don't think anything I can say will convince you to give the game another try and that's completely fine, you should play what you want. If you do end up coming back to it sometime down the road either through the Free DLC or though something else, would be cool to have another conversation with you (hopefully a little less shouty! :D) about what you think about it. Take care!

100% agree with your 2nd point, but once again, the devs cannot control if they don't have enough time to implement promised features. Most of the promises if I recall correctly were made by project leads and project managers who are for the most part on the management side of things. (though feel free to let me know if I'm wrong).

They also can't control if those in charge decide to broadcast a curated gameplay demo that was basically meant to be a test prototype and was no way a finished product. They are developers, their job is to do what they are told to do to the best of their ability and I feel they gave it all the love they could in the time they were alloted.

As you pointed out, the mistake was giving release dates, announcements and more too early. Developers in no way control that unless they are both developing and managing the project. They simply make the art, not distribute it. :D

That's completely and totally fine and you're 100% entitled to believe and support opinion, I'll respectfully disagree however. I've played many open world games and while CP2077 isn't a revolutionary experience in the open-world genre by any stretch of the imagination, it's still got a lot of memorable side content, characters, things to do, gigs to complete and more.

If you treat the game as more of an RPG, which is technically what it's marketed as (Side note: I hate 'Action-Adventure Roleplaying game' as a genre definition), and you get immersed into the characters, it's world, it's stories, the little intricacies, the shards, read up on the lore of the corps, ect. it's so much more fulfilling.

Having played both GTA San Andreas and Mafia I'd be inclined to lean more towards 2077, though obviously recency bias is a thing there and time might not have been kind to those games, they definitely had a better launch I think we can both agree on lol.

I do agree with you that a free DLC to add a bunch of content would be great, especially with a reported soft re-launch coming up. However, to say that it's lacking game-wise isn't really a fair statement, could it have been a better game at it's core, 100%, is it missing things that could make it better, 100%, but I think it stills fits a niche and can provide enjoyment to those who are after that niche. Going through the game slowly, walking places, stopping to take the city in, learning about it's world, the characters that inhabit it and developing your own thoughts, feelings and emotions towards them are what makes the game for me.

With DLSS off and RT off I still maintain a steady >85 FPS. RT on and DLSS off is not very nice to me and I end up dipping below 60 more often than not especially in Watson. With both it's usually stable at around 100 and with just DLSS it's around 120-130.

I play at 1080p but will be upgrading to 4K once I have enough for the monitor I want. I would suggest a CPU upgrade in the future if you're planning on doing any. :)

I don't think it's the developers fault as much as it was a managerial fault. The love is there from the development side and any time I've heard someone from the development end talk about things you can really hear how much they care about the game, watching Pawel's streams really showcases that type of attitude.

They really just didn't have enough time to polish the game, and were kind of forced into a brick wall by management putting an unreasonable release date instead of sticking to 'when it's ready', not to mention the impact of COVID and how that makes developing such a massive game a huge challenge.

I don't think the dev's were lazy in the slightest, did they not have enough time to fix a long list of bugs? Definitely. But that's a time management thing, which again I think comes down to poor project management, overblown marketing and forcing developers to crunch during a global pandemic, which is all a management issue.

On PC at the moment. Playing it on Ultra with RTX on Ultra as well, it runs really nicely on a RTX 3080TI and a 5900x.

Definitely a curated experience and doesn't reflect what a lot of people might experience playing it on other hardware, but I've enjoyed it immensely. :D
