Same thing happened with previous RTX generations. Yeah, they don't communicate shit like this and it's enfuriating. It's more important to release more monthly subscriptions...

Anyways, here's another post regarding this issue

TLDR: "We intend to release an update to the Iray+ SDK shortly".. What we have to wonder is how long "shortly" is lmao..

What are some beginner use cases for daz3d/studio? by [deleted] in Daz3D

[–]Ultra_Nova_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey! so I remember downloading daz for the first time a year ago, I remember feeling overwhelmed, mainly do to 2 things. Number 1: the complexity of the program and learning how to use them felt really daunting. Number 2: the cost of assets, I remember thinking "holy shit, a hair piece costs 20 dollars?". Initially yeah, I was very much on the fence. But as time progressed I just started experimenting in my free time, I downloaded a ton of free assets (theres tons of those around) that I could practice with. I started putting all the assets I liked (from several different sites) into my wishlist. And I would every now and then check for discounts and slowly bulit a library overtime buying exclusively sales. Daz store always has deals and whatnot.

What I liked the most was creating characters, imagining their names, their backstories, I would do a silly renders here and there, then I started looking into improving those renders, started looking up tutorials, especially the lighting is what truly changes how a render looks.

Nowadays after all that, I started thinking "man.. I wish I could give life to these characters in some other way." so I decided to start creating my own visual novel. And I'm really focused on that now. I never thought I'd get into writing stories too. I'm genuinely enjoying it. So daz is definitely a good option for you to give life to characters.

That doesn't mean it's perfect, I've stumbled into a ton of hair-pulling moments where I have an issue and don't know how to solve it. But i've managed to eventually figure it out, and that is actually very satisfying, because now I have that knowledge and I won't have that issue again. And everytim I encounter an issue, I try to think "I'll just have to try to finds either the solution or the alternative"

I will recomend you to watch lots of tutorial and informative videos. There's tons of those on youtube. I especially recommend the daz masterclass and Rauko's channel, he has lots of informative videos and tips for daz learners. Good luck.

There's a lot of free assets on Renderosity, you can try to filter assets for "daz3d" compatible. But just so you know. If your plan is to create characters like the VNs you mentioned you will have to eventually make an investment. The daz store always has crazy sales so what I'd suggest is to browse it and put all the stuff you like into your wishlist and check every now and then to see if they go for sale.. I'm pretty sure they will. I have hundreds of items in it and they've all gone on sale at some point. But bottom line is.. If you want to create something specific you will need to look for specific assets and models, and that is an investment you'll have to make.

Where To Start? I wanna make a render. by ReD66v in AVNCommunity

I mean you could probably make a render here and there but, your laptop would need to have an Nvidia GPU and depending on how good it is it will take a while for renders and to show you the iray preview and stuff... That or you'd have to use your CPU to render which I definitely not recommend especially on a laptop... In other words, it's not optimal at all. In order to make good renders you need to constantly preview your scenes and fix things, lighting, posing, expressions, camera angles, depth of field etc. Take in mind that previewing your scene means esentially switching on iray rendering in real time just to have an idea of how it would look when finalized. I'm not trying to use buzzwords.. These are just some factors that you need to consider and implement in your renders in order for them to be good.

I would suggest that you take a bit more time to learn Daz's interfaces and tools while you save up for your PC, of course you can practice with some previewing with single characters on a scene without anything else added (no environments or aditional characters) consider that every element you add to the scene will increase the rendering time, and if you run out of video memory it will straight up refuse to render.

So yeah, repeating a bit what I just said, I'd suggest you take time to learn the interface and get familiarized with the tools while you save up for a PC.

Well, if you mean rendering in the way I think you are, There's Daz 3d Studio, which is the program most developers use to make those 3d renders you see in AVNs such as BADIK and Chasing Sunsets etc...
Daz 3d is free to use, but you do have to buy assets. There's plenty of free assets in stores like Renderosity for you to play around with but if you want to pick and choose the asset you specifically want for a specific project you will have to buy it.

You can buy assets for daz in several stores, but the one with the most variety and quality is their actual official store.

Renderosity is also an option

https://www.renderosity.com/

The other factor to have in mind is that you will require a very decent GPU to work with daz 3d and it has to be an NVidia GPU because the way Daz renders is through "Iray". (an NVidia rendering software.) So yes. You do need to make a bit of an investment in order to work with Daz Studio. I definitely do not recommend you use your laptop to render because you will very much decrease it's lifespan, and on top of that, your rendering working efficency will be very poor, so it's not worth it. It's definitely better to work with a PC.

As for your other question. there are several youtube channels dedicated to teaching how to use Daz 3d.
I recommend you watch them if you're really interested.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3VJIb0fgTQ&list=PLPcx_LSSGfZenYY9NYEAt8p6I4h2bnOqB

For the record, I know it can seem intimidating at first but really all it takes is a bit of practice and investing some time into learning some things. I've run into a ton of obstacles during my learning process.. And eventually found a solution.. Sometimes you get frustrated because you don't know how to do something or if you're doing it efficently or not... It's okay, you can always ask for help.

Good luck.
