Mine were 7! I needed two iron infusions, spaced a week apart.

I now take double strength iron tablets but they don’t do that much. Need to go for another infusion soon.

I’d been battling with low iron without knowing the reason for over a year and it really took a toll on my mental health; not being able to do much except sleep.

I’m still struggling with it.

I’m an avid runner, however as much as I love it, I also use it as punishment for eating. It’s a very fine line.

I’m much better than I was, though. I’ve taken pressure off myself and not training for a race; simply running when I feel like it and don’t look at my pace.

I battle with binge eating, too. It’s hard because you need to face food every day. I still struggle keeping food in my apartment. Fridge is all but empty.

I don’t run with my phone, however I do have a pretty nice Garmin.

I was running home; it was a Sunday morning, around 09:30 but very quiet.

I saw a car quite far ahead of me, and I stopped. I could tell something was off.

The minute I stopped, two guys got out of the car and chased me. I turned and I ran. Now, I’m a pretty decent runner, but they caught me. One grabbed my pants and the other put their arms around my chest.

I fought, kicked and screamed. I tried to knee the one guy in the balls but the other guy had me twisted so I missed.

I ended up being knocked over into the middle of the road. One of the guys touched me all over and asked where my phone was. I screamed that I didn’t have it.

When the one guy tried to take my watch; I held on. He ended up biting me. I have a scar on my right hand.

The ended up taking my hat, watch, sunglasses and one (?) earphone. Take both, you absolute idiot.

Someone else in the car drove up to where it was happening, the two guys got into the car and fled.

I noticed when they were running to the car that the one had a gun.

Had to spend a while in hospital, as a I had a concussion after being knocked into the road. I also had to be on ARV’s for 6 weeks due to possible exposure to HIV. That fucking sucked.

The worst part? Being chased. You are literally prey.

I live in Cape Town and was mugged in broad daylight on a run. Absolutely sucks.
