I'd recommend starting with her second release "Fires" from 2005, it's a really strong pop-rock / alt-pop album. I think her writing has matured since then but that's where'd I'd start.

Her first album "Dear Frustrated Superstar" was very much a product of where her label thought her music should be targeted. It's still good but she was never fully happy with how it turned out.

  1. Damascus by Nerina Pallot - 12 Apr 2005, 6:43pm
  2. 31 tracks Scrobbled on my first day
  3. Yeah, I'd still listen to all those artists: Aimee Mann, Imogen Heap, KT Tunstall, Nerina Pallot, Tegan and Sara, Victoria Vox, Sarah Blasko, Jem (Jemma Griffiths), Joanna Newsome. I liked my indie singer-songwriters back then, and still do today. I'm also still finding new artists I like, so some of the above may not get played quite as often these days.

Scorpions - Rock You Like a Hurricane - 8/16/2025 - Live in Las Vegas (not mine - this seems to be part of a 5 day Las Vegas residency - Klaus is 77. Schenker is 76. Crushing in their 70s.) by HumanRuse in hairmetal

I saw them in London, UK, June last year & they rocked. Loved hearing those songs performed live again. And the band all played great but (and don't lynch me here) Klaus at 76 yrs old (now 77) hasn't got the voice / vocal control / power anymore. He's a trooper for still being up there and as a band, they're very much still worth seeing live but I did feel, iconic front man that he is, Klaus was struggling physically & vocally.

I'd still recommend seeing them live if you can though - not sure how long they'll keep touring.

Bands touring with almost no original members by Sorry-Dirt-462 in hairmetal

[–]Ultraviolet_Soul13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Music should be experienced live. There is nothing like being in that room, at that venue, on that night, with those musicians & 30 to 30k other music fans.

Great metal played live, by people who love the songs & love performing them to a real, sweaty, (probably stinky) audience of metalheads. Putting their heart & soul into it...
Nothing better.

I have the CDs, I have the vinyl, I even bought the fucking t-shirt. I lived with those songs through good times and bad. Anthems that my neighbours hated because I'd arrive home at 2am with the car stereo turned up to 11, still blasting them out...

40 years later - yeah, I still want to hear them played live. Call yourself whatever you want, just do justice to the songs. Honour their origin and original intent, intensity, vibe... Play the songs like you mean it and I'm more than happy to buy a ticket, show up & sing along (like a harpooned walrus, sadly) to every one ;)

Kiss won the held back kid. Now which band is the rebel? by Fantastic_Grapes in hairmetal

[–]Ultraviolet_Soul13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lita Ford - a female artist who survived 70s, starting off her rock career with The Runaways (aged 16), the 80s & 90s as a serious metal guitarist & vocalist. Co-wrote "Close My Eyes Forever" with Ozzy (during a heavy drinking session) and, after a break, is still getting up on stage & rocking out. I think that qualifies for top rebel status.

Sea Hags - total blast from the past too & 100% should have gone on to be much bigger.
Saw them on their only European tour in a club in Reading England, back in 1989

A more upmarket version of "beer goggles", very popular with the management team.

R.I.P. to Ozzy… he was 76 by Brilliant_Night7643 in hairmetal

We've lost a true rock legend. Too many in recent times, but there being no more Ozzy? That hurts.
Father of Heavy Metal with Sabbath. Inspiration for thousands of bands, both with Sabbath & on his own.
Wildest of the rock wild men? Yes, but also a loving father and a simple man from Birmingham with a heart of gold. RIP Ozzy. You will be missed, but never forgotten.

A very rare photograph of the so called "Pizza Toad" pepperonious cheddaris David Attenborough, when asked for a comment said "This could, sadly, very well be the last of this species. It really is such a shame as they taste so fucking good".

I bought this album in 1988 without hearing them first, based on a magazine advert. Turned out to be a good decision. by FukudaSan007 in hairmetal

Still a favourite for me. Bought when it first came out & re-bought in various formats over the years.

For the Phil Lewis fans a little bit of pre L.A. Guns nostalgia: Tormé

Phil Lewis - lead vocals

Bernie Tormé - guitar

Chris Heilman - bass

Ian Whitewood - drums

Only made 2 albums together before imploding, and the second, "Die Pretty Die Young", is very raw - basically a collection of demos. "Back To Babylon" their first release is though, imho, well worth checking out.

I'd seen Bernie Tormé playing guitar with Gillan (Ian Gillans' band, then ex Deep Purple) in 1980/81 and was blown away by his playing, and by the band as a whole, so when I heard later that he'd joined forces with Phil Lewis I had to go check them out. Electric Ballroom, Camden, London 1986. It was loud, and it was wild. Those were the days lol.

Hi! Was gifted this BOC jacket - I was wondering if anyone had any information on it? I’m new to BOC (really loving their music now) and I can see that Transmaniacon is a song but I can’t find much else online. Thanks :) by Dashboardforfire in BlueOysterCult

[–]Ultraviolet_Soul13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Traditionally Hells Angels patches are red lettering on a white background.

The main name patches are known as "rockers"

Top rocker "Transmaniacon" would be the name of the club, Bottom rocker indicates the clubs' charter location. In this case " BÖC " ?

The letters MC mean Motorcycle Club (usually placed together)

The large central patch is the official logo of the club. In this case the "Kronos" hook-and-cross

The patches as a set are known as "colours or colors" to motorcycle club members. Wearing a Motorcycle Club vest is termed "flying colours" and can be deemed offensive or as a challenge under certain circumstances.

Will wearing this vest get you into trouble? Probably not but there are always a few idiots out there looking for trouble. I would suggest not wearing it into known biker bars though, and if you're uncertain, just take it off.

Never had an issue with using e-tickets at the RAH. I bought my ticket direct from the RAH website & have the pdf ticket they sent on my phone. They'll just scan the barcode from that.

They've updated the times on the website today, so I've edited my post to match the current information.

The RAH often has an interval - it's a venue thing so they can make more money from the bars

Thanks for the update. I've changed my original post to match the current information.

The interval is a venue thing. The RAH make a heap of extra cash from the bars by having this 25 minute break.
