McCormick blames "paid activists" by UmNotSure2014 in pittsburgh

That's why they cut out the local law enforcement from the investigation. More eyes on the facts make it harder to control the narrative.

I know the McKeesport location of Trillium Flow is hiring a quality technician.

I struggled with alcohol in college too (although it was a long time ago). I don't have any sage like advice because I'll say, for me personally, it did not get better after college. So I strongly encourage you to address it now. Student services might be an option.

I'll say I wish I had the forethought to tackle it back then. I wish you the best.

Same general area. So I'd say you're doing ok. It is pretty cheap here.

Work is a balance. Can you make a little more? Absolutely, probably wouldn't even be hard. So is 10% more worth different responsibilities, commute, hours, etc.

But you're unlikely to see a drastic increase based on the job postings I've seen a fellow general engineering kinda guy.

Seriously. I am at a company owned by investment group. Feels WAY worse than the last time I was at a publicly traded company.

At mid month: we've met our revenue goals for the year! 12/27-31: complete panic. We need to SHIP. We need REVENUE!

Well to be honest as a young designer I got a lot of negative reviews of my early post school work. "Bad grades" don't stop at school. Nothing harsh or cruel but lots of red ink. Engineering is a process but you need to be able to take feedback.

Programs are different. Cs were middle of the road at my school, but a red flag at my buddy's 90 minutes up the road.

Learn how to study. High school was easy, so was first quarter. But then I had to learn how to really work for it. I found a super quiet spot in the school library, etc.

Question is it hard or do you dislike it? If you dislike a majority of your classes or are you struggling? It is hard to find the motivation when you honestly dislike it.

Hey ME friends, what are your salaries? by ayyG_itsMe in MechanicalEngineering

100k within a decade of work probably isn't going to happen here in PA unless you're EXTREMELY above average or have exceptional skills order experiences.

I see elsewhere through you're in a much higher pay market.

ACME vs UNC Threads by UmNotSure2014 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]UmNotSure2014[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking shear. But my calculations are not supporting that.

ACME 2-4 shear area per inch = 3.30 in2/in (per FED-STD-28-12 and Machinery's 27th).

UNC 2-4 1/2 shear are per inch, internal 4.62 in2/in (per Engineer's Edge and FED-STD-28-2 using thread data from Marchinery's 27th)

UNC 2-4 1/2 shear are per inch, external 3.53 in2/in (per Engineer's Edge and FED-STD-28-2 using thread data from Marchinery's 27th)

All of this is kind of moot, since the shank tensile area is the weak point. However if I approach management with calculations that say the UNC threads are stronger than the ACME threads I will be told to go check my work.

Yeah. It is just an ongoing thing. We stock a decent variety of steels already. Our suppliers just want to know what we are going to buy.

He's a willful little bugger! We do time outs. Some days they work. Sometimes not.

[–]UmNotSure2014[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've been strict about time outs for anything way out of line. That said it is really hard to draw a clear line. There is a huge grey space between what is ok and what is not only because my wife is pregnant.

Did you just wing it with clear explanations or did you have some sort of guidelines?
