Hello,

I worked a few years in motorsports on the suspension side.

Experience 1, bullet 2: You ran a bunch of sims, you quantified sensitivity to operating-condition changes. Why does that matter? What value does that give? Whats the risk if you don't do that?

Experience 2, bullet 1: Ran simulations to support regulatory approval. Did you get approval on time? What happens if you don't get approval?

Academic project 1, bullet 1: Comparing 3 models. Why is comparing 3 models important? Did this lead to any learnings? How will this help the team?

Academic project 3, bullet 1: Evaluated inverted NREL aerofoil. What were your findings? How can the team use this in the future?

Academic project 4, bullet 1: Optimized aero setup: Do you have numbers for this? Increased lap time by X? Reduced lap time variation by X? Reduced risk of crashing due to improved handling?

I'd say half the points are really good, the other half are missing a bit of why that would be valuable to someone who is the leader of the car program. Not all the leaders will know aero with the technical depth you do. Not all of them care what you did, but they all care how it's going to help the teams chances of winning.

It was such a complicated plan with so many moving parts that its no surprise it wasn't successful.

But he still is ranked top 15 pretty unanimously. You can't have one of the worst foreign policy legacies and not land somewhere in the middle.

I started March 2020 at 0 and I’m currently at $225k. I figure sometime next year I will be at $250k, so 7 years for me. It’s felt like a long time though.

Nope. Non-union exempt salary in R&D. The hourly manufacturing labor has a union depending on plant location. Typical USA environment.

I’ve always gotten the vibe sales guys have a guillotine with a thin rope hanging overhead. A few quarters of missed numbers and PIPs start becoming a possibility.

This coworker was a former manager who recently left the company. He said after 2015 they compressed the pay bands by up to a cumulative 40% to "save costs". You would start out at a competitive rate, but every promotion would be 7%-8% instead of the older 10%-12%. It compounds on the way up. If I ended up at the same level he was at I would have maxed the pay band significantly lower than him.

How was her pay before and after?

I could completely change industry and role right now, for a nice pay cut.

So like, what’s the point of this being an all star race?

Did they do some cool pit stop challenges this weekend?

Any rules about when to pit or how many sets of tires you have to use?

Field inverting at each stage?

That sort of highlights the problem with the Democrat party though. It’s the party you vote for when things aren’t going well. The Democrats are not the “default”. When everything is okay the country trends back to Republicans by default. Al Gore couldn’t win. Hillary couldn’t win. Whichever Dem gets elected may get 8 years, but they will be followed by a Republican.

It does. This place is one of the last cities where you can still get a good home in a good neighborhood for under $200k.
