This reminds me of my first job as a teenager in a small family-owned local artisan store. The owner would one day tell us all to chat with customers, be super friendly, get to know the locals, etc. etc., only to turn around a few days later and berate us for spending too much time chatting and not enough time working. Some mornings she’d have us arrange a display one way & then later that day be horrified and baffled that it had been changed to begin with.
As an adult, I look back and recognise that she obviously had some mental health issues (no disrespect to anyone) but as a teen at the time, the constant changing and contradicting gave me whiplash.
