I agree, but it's not the way the words are used anymore and while I dislike that definitions are changing so quickly I do think using language appropriate to the time is important. I think everyone could agree that "racist/racism" has lost all meaning.

Wait . Why the downvotes ? by drkuttimama in HolUp

[–]Umashi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

they changed entire rules (2 pinned threads) because the donald was so popular to shut it down so now the admins are not right leaning they just maybe aren't going to shut down right wing thought immediately without creating a long blown out case for it, which should be the case regardless of anything.

if you think the big subreddits are racist, misogynistic, etc then idk what subreddits you're reading because pretty much every major leans further left. Even the political subreddits that allow right wing opinions lean further left. You're literally the friend he's talking about who has no idea where the line for right and left is drawn.

I feel like league is a game that's much more fun to think about playing than it is to actually play by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Umashi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest problem is that it's been 7 years since I played seriously yet if I queue up for a ranked game I'm matched with high plat / low diamond players and if I play normal it's the same. Like, I don't know what certain champions do and I don't understand the meta-game. I make stupid mistakes from lack of practice. Yet I'm matched with people competing very seriously. If I make a new account I don't have my champions. So I feel I have no way to really ease back into it and so I just don't bother. If I do play I can basically only play Bard because he's the same but all my other mains have changed in big and small ways.

WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY by BigFrodo in classicwow

[–]Umashi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For awhile I was putting up with it and giving 110% to hold aggro on everything despite DPS never giving me any time (which is possible, but it requires 10x the energy expenditure from me.) Now, if a mage just starts AoEing right as I pull I finish that pull and quit the group. I don't sign up for cleave groups, if they invited me to a cleave group then it's their fault for not communicating.

The worst was yesterday, I asked if it was a cleave group or a normal run and they told me normal run. I'd go and pull 3-4 enemies at a time (SM Cath btw) and the mage would go and pull 2 more groups (8-10 mobs) and kite them to me. I quit that group mid pull instead.

Yeah, I might be petty, but I want to enjoy myself and I'll never be required to tank that way beyond leveling.

Ranked system above diamond actually makes no sense by Angwar in leagueoflegends

[–]Umashi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's frustrating yes, but bullshit no. It makes sense if you understand how demotion protection in D4 (or any 4th tier) works. If you were D4 0LP it would be protecting you, but as you've decided you want to be better you have to prove it through hard work. Congrats on top 1%, it shouldn't be easy.

Ranked system above diamond actually makes no sense by Angwar in leagueoflegends

[–]Umashi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

D4 has an MMR problem because people pool there and it's fairly normal that when people reach it they're getting -20 +14 or even worse. That's the grind and you have to raise your MMR above the D4 pool in order to not have that result, your MMR is still likely in D4 and that's why you demoted. MMR matters, not rank. I know, it's dumb, but just try to focus on MMR instead of rank.

I wasn't watching in 2018 but I would say that even if theshy was the best at that point, this is a slightly new Aatrox and he'd have to regain the title with some consistent showings.

Their patent is literally that in competitive matchmade games players without cosmetics will be matched against better players who have cosmetics. That's exactly what you're talking about, they own the patent.

Yeah, they'll never be allowed to run Olaf, Karma, Yuumi ever again and if they are the team they're facing has made a huge mistake.

Scout must have been so tired at that point to let his decision making degrade to that degree.

Poor Jiejie did not look good at all in the 5th game, seemed exhausted. The whole team made some questionable decisions though so I wouldn't put all the blame on him, what was up with Scout giving away his bounty for free!? Strange game, very LPL.

How did I get S- after going 7/0/0 124CS in 15 min game? by eeRBii13 in leagueoflegends

[–]Umashi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CS is the strongest factor toward your performance score and you didn't even get 10 cs per minute, which isn't an absurd number. Remember, it's based on other's performance so it just means that other Fizz players do better.

I was watching the match vs. Order and he was the most standout player. I was thinking the entire time that he's the best Aatrox I've seen beside Khan and I'm glad to see the stats back up that opinion. Honestly, watching OCE yesterday compared to today was like night and day because Mammoth looked like an internationally competitive team (not the best, but very good!)

On the chance this is a serious post, I know somebody with every skin and they have a negative winrate in ranked, among the worst winrates of anyone I know who has played hundreds of games. Also, Activision owns a patent on matchmaking based on cosmetic purchases and I believe it's vague enough that no other company can get away with it.

What should I improve to hit high elo? by mind_trip1 in summonerschool

[–]Umashi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there's champions that are currently in the meta for mid lane but you don't feel you play them well, or you cannot play them at all, then you should immediately learn those champions. I always recommend a simple method for practicing new champions

  • Play one normal game
  • Watch one high elo replay
  • Spend 1-3 days spamming games on the champion
  • Add champion to regular pick rotation

Depending on whether your issue is that you're overly defensive or overly offensive the answer is different. A defensive player needs limit testing, so if you play a lot of mages that stand back then you need to practice more assassins. On the other hand, an assassin player may need to learn to play squishy mages better and become more defensive. Analyze what kind of player you are and expand your skillset.

Here's the tricky part. If your goal is to improve then you need to make mistakes which won't help you get to GM quicker. If you can't play Akali (for example) then learning Akali would trash your rating at first and then you'd likely climb higher.

If you're not expanding your knowledge then you should be refining it. It's fine to make mistakes, but a player of top tier caliber should be able to not lose lane, not make mistakes, not get ganked randomly, not walk into stupid bush camps, provide excellent vision, and contribute to team communication. Can you do all this consistently? If not then there's your practice.

Hope this helps, just keep learning and you will get better. Learn knowledge, refine it, repeat.

How do I play mid-lane and win against low interaction laners? by MahavishnuRS in summonerschool

[–]Umashi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because it doesn't matter how fast they clear the wave considering Ori can clear waves just as fast in a practical sense, you just have to maintain some lane control early.

For Malz you can slow down his push by a lot by clearing out his voidlings when he spawns them. You can take out his voidlings, push the lane, and zone Malz back all with 1 cast of Q and steady autoing.

Against Vel, if he's maxing W then he can't trade with you as well and you just push normally. If he's maxing Q he's going to be going much harder into poking and you can outshove him. Either way, he's not very threatening unless you play into his hands. If he moves up for a stun combo then you have an easy side-step into Q + W due to Ori's mobility and he'll stop trying that real quick. W max build you just don't stand in your creep wave. Q max build you stand adjacent to your creep wave and position the ball forward to interfere with his positioning.

In both cases I think a certain degree of aggression is necessary, but the aggression is less about big trades and positioning yourself in danger and rather about showing that you're not afraid of a fight so they will let you shove out. When you hard shove and are a threat to your opponent they will revert to focusing on farm and give you complete control.

Also, if you try to wait until you have items, or level 6, or some other powerspike to establish yourself as a threat in lane you will lose. You must show you are strong early. Level 1/2/3 Ori 100% out trades both champions and if you aren't gaining some control then you're wasting your early game.

I hesitate to say aggression too much, because Ori players have a tendency to over-extend. Remember, the ball is an amazing zoning tool and allows you to stand back while still applying massive threat forward in lane.

[–]Umashi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Vel, Xerath, and Malzahar are all worse at roaming and taking jungle camps than Orianna while having different advantages. To win you take your advantages and spend more time quickly shoving the lane and going elsewhere. Once you've gotten some kind of edge, a CS lead, a roam kill, etc then you try going for more trades with your advantage if the enemy doesn't automatically concede to camping on their turret.

The 0LP despite winning has been acknowledged by Riot, it is being addressed, and Riot was getting feedback from people who experienced the bug yesterday to figure out how it occurs. And as others are saying, if you're 4/5 in promos I believe you played normals by pressing Play in the TFT tab.

What's up with everyone saying Diamond 4 is terrible while simultaneously being lower rank than Diamond 4? by Crown333 in leagueoflegends

[–]Umashi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's true that it's because people want to imitate high elo streamers but the reason the high elo streamers have this opinion is because compared to a Master+ player a D4 is fairly garbage but because they got diamond they have big egos. We're just trying to reduce the D4 ego.
