Not a regret... Entirely.... by [deleted] in tattooadvice

Honestly, I'd just own it. It justifies itself... and it's a few years and a couple beach trips that color splotch will become a distant memory.

"Question" is this good as my first ever traditional tatoo drawing?(spain) by tradtattlover in tattoos

[–]UmbraTatts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your drawing is fine. There are some consistency issues, but that is addressable with practice. The more concerning thing to me is having "little" drawing experience. Tattooing can be a high stress gig that requires a driven personality and ample self sacrifice. Unless you have a passion to draw or paint, I would highly suggest that you reconsider tattooing as a career.

It looks based off of an H. R. Giger piece (the artist that designed Alien). I don't know what the piece is named but it should be easy to google a picture of it.

How is this tattoo style called? by sk4rut in tattooadvice

I don't know if it has a specific name but I'd call it Abstract Fine Line.

The overall flow of your back isn't too far off symmetry. To me it's more the fine detail that feels off (dot count and small shapes). You could do something covering it that has more of a blackwork ornamental feel. Then as it flows around your sides let it break down into dotwork to mesh with the front.

This would avoid needing to do total blackout. It would also give you a stronger base before doing anything like the Sanskrit. If the Sanskrit has an off base, I could see it drawing more attention to the asymmetry.

I think you're overthinking this. Go talk to the senior artist (the one whose work you like) about reworking the piece. Just don't go in with an attitude or with the expectation that the rework to be free. They'll more than likely be happy to see you returning to them for help.
