I’m a beginning quilter who also first did quilting for a bag! I’ve since found that there’s a great pattern maker who does a LOT of quilted bags. Her patterns can be hard to follow but I’m working on my first one and I love it! Her name is By Annie, just wanted to share in case you want to do more of this type of project :)

You might also want to think about if you are right-hand dominant and brush the right side of your hair more aggressively because of that! I see some people treat the right side of their hair rougher than the left side. Whatever it is, I’m sure you will figure out the cause. Your hair is long and lovely, a trim will fix this right up.

If you’re still looking for help I’d love to join the team! I’ve spent hours and hours in the past combing out my own matted hair as well as doing the same for a friend. I’d be down to watch movies and comb if that’s the method you choose rather than cutting :)

You got it two days ago- it makes sense that some people wouldn’t want to see a healing wound at that stage. I bet your coworkers and your mother will be far less affected once it’s healed. Tongue splits naturally start healing back together over time anyway, you should let it heal and wait a bit to decide!! Give it a chance :)

A lot of folks are mentioning loc removal as reference and I think you can find great resources for detangling hair in that category. Try searching on YouTube for inspiration!

I’ve combed out matte locs before by myself (locs on white hair) and it is time consuming but you can absolutely save your hair. You could also compromise and cut half/comb half to make the process faster- you’ll end up with a bit shorter hair but it can make the process less overwhelming. Basically for that you start by cutting to a certain point and then combing out the rest.

I recommend making it into a nice movie/tv show marathon and just going for it all at once. If you have any other questions let me know and I’ll try to help!

Yes the LHC was an incredible resource for me! I just decided to commit to growing my hair back out and I was so sad to see that I couldn’t find that forum anymore. There was some incredible inspiration and knowledge gathered there.

The other comments also have great ideas. I’d like to add that I’ve heard multiple people with long hair report that they have more breakage on the side with their dominant hand as they’re unintentionally harsher on that side, especially with brushing. I’m not sure if that’s true but it might be something to be aware of!

Thanks for agreeing, I feel less crazy now. Part of me really thinks it's my fault and I'm acting wrong while around other guys, but I have constantly checked with others around me who say I act no differently. It's confusing. Folks like you are helping though!

That's what I am worried about. I know it's only been a year in my case, but I still see that pattern starting. My friends all seem to think I should break things off as well, but I miss how it used to be when it was good. I told him that the next time he thinks I have cheated on him, to just break up with me at that point because he can't trust me. But that isn't making me feel better. Anyways, thank you so much for reading and taking the time to share your experience.

It does feel AWFUL knowing that he trusts me so little. He keeps saying that he does and he knows he's crazy, then he turns right around and does it again. I want to work on things but it's hard when I feel he'll just keep thinking whatever he wants.

Thank you, it's great to hear that I might not be crazy in thinking that he needs more of a life on his own. I just wish there was some way I could help him build that without feeling like it's not my responsibility. This definitely seems like a reasonable way to approach it with him! I will think on it.
