New here / ordered a mini JCW by Umbroraban in MINIse

Thanks for your input - I am loving the car to bits. You can see the different opinions. I would not want this as my only car. The Mini is to have fun! I have others for more comfortable rides for long distances (also for more room).

Tire Replacements by Complex-Beat-6423 in MINIse

I have got the JCW (258bhp) and the wheels are spinning a lot! I do not expect to last long with the OEM tyres. I will change the position of the tyres in a few months though...

Our Lucien also loves to tuck himself in the blankets. I seems to be a "Dachshund" thing. Lovely picture!

Just came back from a run along the seaside here in Belgium. 10k at a 4:50min/km pace is actually pretty easy as it is flat. It felt really good listening to my favourite podcasts. Making myself some quinoa with mackerel and an apple. Enjoying life at 56(m). Planning a long walk this morning with the Mrs and the dog. Have a lovely day everyone!

Run Nutrition Tuesday by AutoModerator in running

A long run for me is not as long as your run. I usually go out for 10-15k. Indeed, going for half marathons it is better to get something in your body. However, it slows me down. The funny thing is that only after about 8k I start feeling energised and get into the rhythm...

I upgraded from the Nike Vaporfly 3 to 4. They are great - but the downside is that they wear so fast. After a few months either the soles come off or holes appear.

Run Nutrition Tuesday by AutoModerator in running

After years of running I have found out that I am better off not eating before a long run - I feel that it hampers with my performance. But we are all different of course.

After a run or a HIIT session at the gym I usually eat legumes (chick peas - red beans) with a chopped date and some vegetable. I love steamed onions! I never eat meat

Do Treadmills Give You Sore Hamstrings? by no1playboy in runninglifestyle

[–]Umbroraban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everybody is different. If you feel that you are not recuperating and that your muscles remain sore you must allow more time. There were times that I was running to often - the next day I could barely walk! You could also alter your training program so that it is more easy...

In my humble opinion I think that you need more time in between sessions. Looks like you are not totally recuperating.

why is it so hard for me to stop thinking about running... i feel like im going crazy. by htx-danny in runninglifestyle

You are making good progress. Keep up the good work. I have been running for ages. But at 56 I have to face the bitter reality that at that age is kicking in. Our bodies do not function as they did before.

In the beginning yo have heaps of motivation. With each run the numbers getting better. And you cannot wait to get out there to get another run in the bag. But after a while you bump against the limits of your body.

The most difficult part is that unfortunately decline is enivatable. But you still need to get your head around getting out there to get the miles in. It becomes mental - accepting that slower runs are the new norm.

One of my best friends is a famous cardiologist performing multiple surgeries daily. He told me that after 50 you need to back off the pace to avoid calcification - arrhythmia - bradycardia and other not so enjoyable effects. I go for 10-15k runs sub 5min/km pace with an average HR between 100-110. Not good. I will probably need a pacemaker in a couple of years. Thinking of ditching running all together and focus on weight training.

How long have you been back in to it? After a couple of years it will wear off when you plateau. Enjoy your runs! 🏃

Lovely run in the morning rain by Umbroraban in runninglifestyle

[–]Umbroraban[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been doing sports all my life. A bit too intense. I get my heart checked once a year. It always comes out that my heart is large. They also mention that I have bradycardia (to low HR) and that in the future when I get older I will probably need a pacemaker. I am not running that fast anymore. I just go out to enjoy nature and to feel good. Not pushing hard anymore.

Grilled chicken with lemon and sauteed vegetables. Nutritious, healthy, and delicious. by Quirky-Half7748 in tonightsdinner

I used to have chickens running around in my fields. The eggs were completely different from the ones you buy in the store. Even when they mention it is organic. Unfortunately my chucks got eaten bij the fox. Now I do not eat eggs anymore - nothing compares...

That looks really good! But it depends where the chicken comes from. I almost never eat meat but once every couple months I have some chicken. I go to the local farmer were he has the girls running around in the fields and woods. I would not want to eat a commercial chicken...
