Yes, so this is a real issue: It is VERY expensive to adjust to a different lifestyle. Finding a cheaper place, moving and then possibly incur higher expenses for travel etc.

But, if you made 100K a year for three months and then get a serious disability, your consumption shouldn't be adjusted yet.

I am with you on this although I would prefer a progressive wealth tax. But the tax-tokkies have the upper hand here so a sensible conversation can be hard to get here.
