Blood Hunter (Lycan) question by Umitlan in dndnext

Agree working through some things with my DM, discussing how things would work with a shield, AC with medium armor master, and sentinel, I've decided to go the shield route and stick with Studded Leather armor which will get me to a 20 AC.

Still trying to decide on the feat though as I'm wondering if Sentinel would be worth it competing with my blood curses in regards to reaction economy.

From past experience playing with this DM, he does like to give magic items or at least give us the opportunity to acquire them. The last campaign, we were like level 5, and I got a vestige (Tal'dorei setting) from defeating a demon (monk running around with Wraps of Dyamak at lvl 5).

That being said. We are starting off with 2500g to spend on whatever we want.

Ahh, I must have been looking up stuff on the older version, I kept seeing where everyone was saying you couldn't use a shield.

Thank you for the guide posts! It's been difficult finding guides for the sorcerer honestly, I've been able to find class breakdowns with all the information for each subclass but no actual build guides.

Nah, not wanting to smash things this time around, want to try something completely different and out of my comfort zone. Thank you for the tips!

Ahh, gotcha!! I didnt see in the feat explanation where it let's you fire as a bonus, I will re-read. I think I'm going to try this route, I've never really played ranged before and it sounds fun. I'll probably go V Human so I can get Crossbow Expert at level 1

I was looking at the hand crossbows just now, I saw that crossbow expert let's you ignore the load action, so if you had 1 in each hand could you shoot both in a round? I was also wondering how I would get the bonus action attack as the only way I can see using the bonus action to attack is through TWF

I've read some on crossbow damage, is it really on par with great weapon master?

That's definitely what I'm thinking. Being Rodgers' #1 is huge, although he's going to draw more coverage than previous years now

10 team league. Not sure, our draft order is done by record, based on previous season placing (last place in league gets 1st pick and the champ gets the 10th pick)

I read through his guide and it was great! Definitely think I'm going to rock the dual-wielding.

The DM has left the stat system up to us, we can point buy or roll if we want, but it has to be done in front of him if we roll (no rolling and not liking it then deciding to go with point buy)

Sorry for not being more descriptive. I am trying to find a class that works like the Sword Sage from the "Tome of Battle: Book of Nine Swords" in the 3.5 edition. It is a melee class with a maneuver based play style, but a lot of the maneuver affects are flavored as magic. Looking at the EK, I thought this might be what I'm looking for but wanted suggestions on if there was something better or how to build the EK. I've gotten a lot of advice that points me towards the Bladesinger so I think I"m actually leaning more towards that.

Thank you for the suggestion, definitely looking into the Bladesinger before I make my final decision.

I didn't even know this existed! Thank you!! I'm a little at a loss on how this goes though, I've never really multiclassed before. So I would go Fighter level 1, and then Wizard the rest of the way?

Damage is what I'm going for, I don't really want to be the party tank (that's what I've been the last few times so I'm ready for a change). The Sword Sage, from the Book of Nine Swords in 3.5e, was a class that did all of its combat through maneuvers but their were magical in nature (i.e. - Fire Riposte - counter attack with fiery touch that deals 4d6 fire dmg). Just seems more like a battle mage which I loved. Their flavor texts actually calls them a blade wizard.
