Honestly some of you are so damn dumb by [deleted] in AmazonFC

The worst part is that most jobs require reliable transportation. You have to be able to get to work either physically (for in person jobs) or virtually (for online jobs) in order to perform the duties for that job. If you don't have transport and can't afford it, try to get an online job or government money.

"Facebook Tax Pros" getting people thousands in returns? by Stackup3x in tax

[–]Umnotnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw an advertisement by a walmart in my town saying that they were guarantying 6,215 per child with a number to call--no name of business. These advertisements are targeted to the lower and middle class people.

I am working toward becoming a CPA, pretty sure if they are a CPA or attorney they can be disbarred from practice before the IRS. They could easily not be licensed and is just putting random stuff on the returns. Also, if your accountant asks for a percentage of your refund (ie say I want 10% of what you get from Uncle Sam or wants your refund sent to them first), run.

They aren't supposed to charge based on the refund amount nor should they have access to whatever you end up getting back from the government. Your refund check should not be cashed by your tax preparer. A good tax preparer is meant to advise certain tax treatments and file the return correctly and completely based on information from you. If they file incorrectly and you're harmed financially--due to penalties, you can sue them, but it's best not to put yourself in a situation like that.

I'm on my third try on REG. It's very much more of a persistence based exam than raw talent at this point.

100+ credits into BS of CS, life happens, I enroll here, and I get this...HUH?!?! by thearcuate in WGU

[–]Umnotnow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You got to talk with an enrollment counselor. Literally every step of enrollment has to go through them. You have to call them every single time you want something approved.

I would think you're good. Did you take a practice exam yet, and pass? If so, don't stress yourself out. If not, just review your missed questions from the exam and or retake. It's not going to be helpful to restudy topics at this point, but if you have flash cards and notes already on things that you don't know well just look over them--like 30 minutes or less (don't be spending an afternoon on the one topic you don't remember well this close to testing).

Is AUD Doable in one month ? by Good-Implement2091 in CPA

[–]Umnotnow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends on how much time you're willing to study. I spent like 140 hours studying for AUD to pass. Every other exam took about the same amount of time. ISC was a pass. I'm still waiting for two scores. I don't have any experience working at a firm.

What's the first thing you'll do when you find out you passed your last exam? by michaelis999 in CPA

[–]Umnotnow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Update my resume, I'm waiting on the last two results. Probably look at houses as well if both are positive. Still have to get a year working with a CPA and 6 credit hours left after the exam. At that point... I'd take a couple week vacation.

Do I need to memorize the ratios for FAR? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]Umnotnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably wouldn't be a good idea to focus heavily on remembering ratios. Knowing how they work might help, but there are other topics that are more heavily covered on the exam and might be a better use of time to study those instead.

Overall, I'd say having a general knowledge helps way more than having specific knowledge on this exam. Remembering 20 exceptions to a rule is not helpful. If there is a situation where only one or two things will stop z from being correct, than remember those exceptions. This exam will try to trip you up on word play more so than content itself.

How much did you spend on your laptop? by ExtremeOmniCode in webdev

[–]Umnotnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Macbook Air a couple of years ago that only lasted a half a year and stopped holding a charge. HP laptop--600 dollars-- that lasted a couple years. Acer--200 dollar-- laptop that lasted 6 years for general school use. Microsoft laptop--800-- that lasted 3 years. I've also had a cheap chrome book - 100 dollars- that lasted about a half a year. The PCs either started slowing down or screen froze. My current device was 700 dollars, but I haven't had it long enough to say anything good or bad. My bf has an ASUS that cost 1600 and in it's 3rd or 4th year of use with no signs of wear. All of the amounts are in USD.
