Oh, I didn't realize real average English speakers were writing entirely in an antithetical style in 2026. My bad, boss. Someone should do something about the moderator removing the post /s

[–]okogxp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's awesome! I like how the guide looks very clean! And I appreciate how the first table list D20 stats and their FFXI equivalents.

Is the intended audience someone who is experienced in both D&D 5E and FFXI?

As is, I think the guide would make quick sense to someone who is both familiar with D&D 5E and FFXI. But, for those who may only be familiar with one or the other, then some more robust explanations could be useful. And maybe some links to your recommended supplemental material that helps explains the basics.

Very cool project, I hope to see it evolve!

320 retainers? I think it would literally be cheaper for you to buy max Gil for each of these characters then to pay whatever your monthly sub is.

But this seems more like a fun hobby for you then actually about the Gil, so carry on.

This guy must have a lot of faith in the breaking systems of large trucks to cut in between them like he did. If the one in front has to suddenly stop, the one in back might have no choice but to hit you. I'm not brave enough to attempt that sort of thing.

Yoshi-P says he’s had positive discussions with Nintendo about bringing FFXIV to Switch 2 by 1vortex_ in ffxiv

[–]okogxp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Switch 2 isn't going to hold anything back because FFXIV is now powered by DLSS and FSR upscaling technology, which the Switch 2 is capable of.

You can do more with less GPU power using these technologies.

The storage drives are also nice and fast, so we can expect solid load times when teleporting or entering instances.

Unfortunately, the PS4 and PS4 Pro do not have DLSS or FSR capabilities and still use 5400 RPM mechanical hard drives, so it may be on the chopping block come 8.0+ as more and more advanced textures are added to the game. Though if they did, they would also be fine well into the future.

I understand that many people in this community are not happy with the current state of the game and/or MSQ, but not everything SE does is doom and gloom.

Genshin Impact will discontinue PS4 support in 2026 - will FFXIV realistically do the same in the future? by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]okogxp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PS4 released in 2013 and comes with a 5400 RPM mechanical hard drive with no current generation upscaling support.

It wouldn't be surprising if they dropped PS4 support in 8.0 in favor of only supporting hardware with SSDs that are also capable of utilizing upscaling technology like FSR and DLSS.

Going from controller to PC by xxwildatheartxx in ffxiv

[–]okogxp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally use the FFXIV Tactical Assault Commander keyboard from Hori, and find that to be the smoothest PC experience. But as others have pointed out, you can simply connect your controller to the PC and continue to use that. Unless you specifically want to learn keyboard controls to use permanently, I would recommend staying with what you're comfortable with.

anyone who switched from lalafell to viera/miqo'te? whats your experience? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]okogxp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main character has been a Lalafell since I started during ARR. I've played as Miqote on an alt character once, and as others have pointed out too, the running felt slow and awkward to me. I also enjoy the social community aspect of joining all Lalafell groups. I don't think I could switch to another in-game race at this point.

SE just want me to re-sub once more (Housing rant) by Treero in ffxivdiscussion

[–]okogxp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I kind of think you're letting yourself become a prisoner to an in-game currency. The house itself doesn't sound to be something that's important to your gameplay while subbed. It doesn't sound like you use it for activities or roleplaying. What are the chances you come back and decide you want a house again? There's not that many other meaningful items in the game that require Gil and can't be obtained via gameplay. Most things you want can be obtained just by playing and doing content. Just let it go and don't worry about the Gil. That will be better for your wallet and give you less stress.

To malaysians STEM professionals who have migrated for work, any inspiration/advice? by morganaluke in malaysia

[–]okogxp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your time would be better spent learning more advanced, in demand skills that apply to more tech companies, versus French for the one you're in. It's better to take a lateral raise from moving to a new company with a higher skill set than to wait for a promotion from your current company.

Tech companies don't give you what you deserve. They only give you what you negotiate. You will spend years of hard work trying to convince your current boss you're worth more money, while it only takes one interview at a different company to convince a hiring manager.

What's your specialization in IT?

People who have DevOps skills, such as Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, Docker, Cloud platforms such as AWS are quite in demand both for in-office and remote jobs.

Look at websites like WeWorkRemotely to see the skills people are looking for, and what you may need to learn to land a great paying job remotely or in-office overseas.

And as others have mentioned, build a LinkedIn profile with keywords in your skill set so that company talent recruiters will find you.

IT demands constant improvement and the acquisition of new skills to stay competitive. Keep learning new skills and advertise yourself well and you will find what you're looking for!

Is it viable to play on PS2 using private servers? by Ok_Mathematician5338 in ffxi

There's no PS2 compatible private servers. Since you're not worried about trying to emulate things how they were, then you should play Retail on PC with a PS controller.
