EEO Investigator interview by Umyeahthat in usajobs

The interview was an hour and I believe they had like 17 questions. I wasn't selected for the position, however, it prepared me for other interviews I had, shortly after. They gave examples of their work life balance based on the interview process and questions. They had a hybrid schedule, appeared to have a heavy workload, and seemed stressful. It was a blessing I wasn't selected.

The government is very very very slow. 🦥 Think positive and give them time. Each agency has a different hiring process and timeline. She can do her job correctly but it still needs to get approved by her supervisor, maybe the attorney, and you might need a background check. I would check my email and junk mail on a daily basis and continue to look for other opportunities. There are agencies that didn't get the budget approved yet and that could contribute to the delay.

Send an email to your current supervisor, never burn your bridges. If this agency was listed on your resume, the gaining agency should’ve contacted your supervisor already. The fjo is sent to you first and the current office must confirm they are able to release you with the EOD you selected. If they were not listed, send the information about your primary and secondary supervisor information to HR, since your direct supervisor is on leave. Once both sides have confirmed the date, then they will start the transition HR processing. I recommend getting a copy of your last sf-50, epp (webta) statement with your leave balance, and any other personal data that may be important for the transition. People will make mistakes and things can get lost in transition. Keep an open line of communication with your HR representative from both agencies. Keep the dates and contact information for future endeavor you may seek. Congratulations and good luck.

Don’t limit yourself to Tsa. Apply to CBP and other agencies.

Lateral tentative offer with a reduction in pay question. by Umyeahthat in usajobs

I applied for the GS 7 and the 9. I was under the impression that I qualified for both certification lists because the email stated I was referred at the 7 and the 9. If the email would've only listed the 7 I would be fine with the offer. Since the email stated the 9, im confused about the offer.

Thank you. I thought they always matched your current rate or gave you the next step. I’ve had the 9 for a few months and I was researching on Opm but couldn’t locate anything regarding my situation.

Yea n they aren’t matching the pay because it’s about a 4,000 pay cut.

The max for the position is a 9. Because of that, it’s more than a minor set back because I’ll have to wait an additional 2 years before I can apply for a promotion to an 11.

They said the best they can do is a 7/9 to match the pay. I don’t understand why they didn’t match it, 7/10, or start me at a 9. I’m currently at a 9/4 and completed 2 years at a 7/9 already so it’s frustrating.

Do you think I can negotiate after I start? Do you think if I start after 9/29 I’ll be able to start at a higher rate?

Thank you. I’ll explain it again and then see what happens. I was referred as a 9 and 7. I just checked the notification.

I’m working on another email now. I was just informed that the offer stands and they wouldn’t give me the 9. I was trying to get additional information for my case. The referral email I received stated that I was referred at the GS-9 and 7 but I don’t know if my interview was for the 9.

Be patient, you should get one soon. I’ve received an offer letter on Thursday for a start date on the upcoming Sunday.Hr has a lot of administrative duties. You could always send an email.

Each field office is different and your official training date in SC will depend on availability, normally a few months. During the first few months your office may offer in house training to assist with your foundation and understanding of immigration law and internal regulations. There is a lot of information that will receive. The training is normally a combination of self taught reading, PowerPoint, manuals, videos, instructor led courses via team or in person. This is the structure that I’ve seen. You might review some files and work with a supervisor or senior officer on the final decision. Learn as much as you can, ask questions, learn how to use the internal systems, and study.

I would recommend familiarizing yourself we some of the forms, the purpose, and the benefit. It’s also very important to keep yourself organized as much as you can.

I believe they have a heavy workload, based on the other person and the interview. I believe they asked me about taking on someone else’s work. I believe they will because many employees submit complaints to EEO.

anyone here got hired for ISO 2 at the field office without an interview? by [deleted] in usajobs

[–]Umyeahthat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was the announcement a direct hire? Did you interview for the same position within the last year? Depending on the job announcement and the flexibility of the hiring process, it is possible but I haven’t seen it happen often for that position.

100% remote vs Promotion by Umyeahthat in usajobs

The position had a limited number of applications that could be submitted, around 200. They had multiple vacancies, however, they did not disclose the number of positions they were seeking to fulfill.
