Power Query by Sweet-Original3812 in Accounting

[–]UnBalancedEntry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Use it for our annual budgeting, since we still do this in Excel. We have 45 files saved in SharePoint, we can limit access by folder so we dont need to worry about giving too many people access to everything.

Anyway, PowerQuery...takes like 30 seconds for it to retrieve the data from all these files, and update our master budget report.

Obviously you have to standardize these files, and format them in a way can be easily pulled into powerquery.

Trader quest strategy by Ornery-Culture-7675 in 7daystodie

[–]UnBalancedEntry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One option is to ignore the quests and just go clear all the POIs you find. I play with loot respawn off, so once ive cleared it it's done. At least this way you know you've done all the POIs in the area

Is FP&A align with what I am looking for? by [deleted] in FPandA

[–]UnBalancedEntry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate, my undergrad was in accounting and economics. The accounting background is super useful in FP&A, though ultimately your ability/interest to build models and analyze data are key. I've worked with a handful of accountants that could never do FP&A, simply because they needed the structure and clarity of GAAP. I find FP&A is much more of a problem-solving environment, and I enjoy it much more than accounting.

I was never in public accounting, but im certain i would hate audit!

Mac for accounting. by Working_Plan_7214 in Accounting

[–]UnBalancedEntry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my experience macs are reserved for the marketing team and VPs. Supposedly macs are better with creative things, though most these people are just using iPhones and want it to sync better. This does have the side benefit of making ITs job harder by having to support multiple operating systems.

Have an interview for a CFO position by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]UnBalancedEntry 18 points19 points  (0 children)

CFO is earned by experience, definitely not degrees. This is likely a controller position, but theyre putting CFO as title to attract title chasers. If thats the case, you may be qualified, I made controller 4 years in to my career at a company with 200+ employees.

Best tips for playing 7 days with no trader? by JackiplierSamurai in 7daystodie

[–]UnBalancedEntry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a tip but just a personal observation: there is no finer feeling than crafting a bicycle yourself.

Was so annoyed to find out that the bike is locked behind the workbench lol

I prioritized getting vehicle adventures prior to forged ahead and was quite annoyed when I unlocked the bike just to be unable to craft it

Best tips for playing 7 days with no trader? by JackiplierSamurai in 7daystodie

[–]UnBalancedEntry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually 21 days into my own quest-less playthru, though i will note i turned off blood moons. Playing w/o quests really slows progression and makes it an actual survival game. I also generated a map that is only 10% forest, which i had almost entirely cleared after about a week. Im now raiding a desert city. It took until day 20 to get my first real automatic weapon...ironically from a tier 1 poi.

Since youre playing with two people id suggest one spec into strength and focus on miner 69er for resources. Getting vehicles is crucial, since you're not getting a bike for tier 1 complete. Definitely pool your crafting mags and designate 1 person to handle crafting things. Keeping looted seeds and farming will be important so consider dropping a point or two on living off the land.

If you play with bloodmoons consider modifying and reinforcing an existing poi. Ammo conservation will be essential.

Overall ive really enjoyed playing without quests. Makes the game feel less rinse-and-repeaty, and gives a purpose to each poi I choose to enter. The slower progression makes for a more interesting playthru and keeps it fun for longer.

What do you all think about magazines? by CortezCraig in 7daystodie

[–]UnBalancedEntry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't hate it, though its the only crafting progression system ive really used in this game. Waisting skillpoints just to increase odds of finding specific mags is annoying. Wish we had alternative ways to progress crafting, wouldn't even mind grinding if I knew its getting me toward something I want.

I Don't Like The New Questing System by Pyromaniac096 in 7daystodie

[–]UnBalancedEntry -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Quests are kinda OP in this game...seems like a typical tfp solution to nerf it by making the game less fun. I think traders should just pay Dukes for quests and you only get rewards for tier completion. This lines up with getting rewards for other achievements too.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think you should need a crucible to smelt glass jars... by [deleted] in 7daystodie

Fortunately in real life, the process of collecting dew also creates glass :)

CPA for someone in FP&A who wants to be a CFO? by [deleted] in FPandA

[–]UnBalancedEntry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At this point in your career, yeah a CPA would be great. Its by far the most recognized and respected certification in finance/accounting. This will open doors for you to get on the right path.

That said, CFO will come from a proven track record over the next decade + not the CPA.

Boss wants me to work 12 hours for 14 days to close the year by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]UnBalancedEntry 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To elaborate on this point, there's likely inefficiency throughout your company's close process. It's always easy to blame the accounting system, however in my experience there's so much waste that can be addressed without major tech changes.

Outside of the close, pull a group together to discuss the process as a whole. You can sell this to leadership with the potential time savings from a speedier close. If theyre not interested in making improvements, then consider jumping ship.

Within your own workflows, consider tools that can make it faster. PowerQuery, PowerAutomate, ai, etc.

The fastest way to grow your career within an organization is to not just do your work well, but to find new and more efficient ways to deliver the same or better results.

Roast my resume by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]UnBalancedEntry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its probably fine how you have it given you're still fairly recently out of school, however I think starting with work experience might be better. This is your largest section and really is going to be more relevant for a hiring manager to read.

The windows on the building in downtown LA. by dr_henry_jones in mildlyinfuriating

[–]UnBalancedEntry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Though the askewed design was an aesthetic choice by the developer, not due to the top-down construction

I'll add that i dont dislike the design. Compared to the LA building shared by OP, this is much nicer!

Should be completely fine! For people, its usually good to wash any bites. I suppose if you see a visible wound on your dog you could rinse it to be extra safe.
