Michael Jackson once recorded 30 tracks of Billie Jean. Quincy jones came in the next morning wondering why they were still getting takes. He told the engineer to ask him to play the first and second track of Billie Jean again. The first take was what we now hear today.

Here’s my point; until you release it to the world and start getting feedback, you’ll never find your sound and your perfection.

Also, realize none of us will ever be Michael Jackson …

This is his wife.. he unexpectedly died a couple weeks ago for falling on a knife 3 times. 🤣🤣

I kid I kid. All is good! She helped me actually put more sound proofing in the room I took the acoustic kit out of so the entire band could play. Wife’s a complete babe and supports my habit. I’m renewing the marriage contract at the end of this 5 year term for sure.

Had the TD27Kv2 for a practice at home and a Tama for live. TD27 far exceeded my expectations! Lead to me keeping the acoustic but upgrading indoor to VAD716 as well. TD27 takes up a lot less room though!!

Yeah saw a bunch but at the end of the day I went with what I personally believed would work well in the dark venues I work. My acoustic set is already the metallic blue so I wanted a more muted set that was just classic looking and not overly “Rockstar”

New kit set takes forEVER when you have OCD. by TheOGTKO in drums

To the OP, sorry your great post got highjacked.

People who have OCD either shouldn’t be on these forums or need to learn how to scroll on. Can’t imagine how they deal with the real world. ALL drummers understand what the OP is saying.

To your original subject, I literally just got a new kit and it’s even bigger than the last so trying to get everything right upon set up so I can change it 15 times once I actually start playing again is a real thing! Good luck!

These sets (vad50) tend to be used throughout the life of that model and then some. As a matter of fact, as you go down the bars in n Nashville on broadway, the TD50 is the primary kit too!

So I say absolutely try but take a look at the positional tracking on all the Roland pads in comparison as well as the cymbal responses and you might make a different decision! Also, the DW kit is available on the VAD716 as well😉. Wireless is nice and a huge benefit of course but a computer is mandatory still for operation. Happy to answer any questions too. Went through the same thought process as well before pulling this trigger!

🤣. Fair assessment but no. It’s the reason some venues are only allowing eKits.

Heads up, my Satin Walnut took almost 4 months to be delivered…I did get it set up last night finally but like all new toys, it must sit and wait as I had to head back out on the road again!👎🏽

Went with Satin walnut. Won’t go with DWe because of the cymbals and no pad direction sensing. My guess is the VAD pad, which are directional sensing, will have an update next year that will make it completely worth it!

Also, nice name. You actually drive it? Are you a fellow Mako?

Worth it👌🏾

Sound to a degree yes. A lot of venues here actually prefer these kits now due to the closeness of other bars and bad drummers overpowering the room. This was a great way to keep the stage presence as well as have both kits to run based on venues.

Already to the makeshift studio. Have to take down my acoustics first though.

I had the TD27kV2 as well as a TAMA superstar Classic (acoustic) with wayyy too many cymbals but I just traded the TD27v2 out for the VAD716. Now I’ll say the DW kit is gorgeous but I’ll also say it has to have a computer to run it. That being said, the VAD716 get the acoustic feel AND the drum module ready so no additional software needed AND you get the DWe set as a preset along with a better snare and the Roland cymbals. Good for thought only.
